A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I need to replace the cheap stock speakers in my 350Z, non Bose. I was wondering if there are any suggestions or advice when it comes to the type of speakers for the front/back. 2-way,3-way,4-way? I was looking into some 2-way speakers in the back because I believe they have more bass, and 3-way or 4-way in the front because they have more mids-high tones. Also planning on replacing the tweeters. Anyone think differently? If I went 2-way all the way around, how would it sound? Crutchfield has a buy one get one half off on the Polk Audio DB 650. Also, will I have any issues fitting 6.5" speakers in the front and back?

I changed out my stock HU, and still have the stock speakers. The new HU made a huge difference. And changing out the HU was no big deal - just took a couple of hours. Read up on it at www.350z-tech.com.
I'll definitely want to change out the stock speakers later, but for now, the HU made a world of difference.

I did the same as Eric. and agree. Big difference with new HU. Left stock speakers. Mine is Pioneer 7600 with the auto volume adjustment and mp3 capability.

Hi zooom:
Did that Pioneer 7600 fully integrate with your steering wheel radio controls? If so was it hard to install in order for full functionality?
A:
The 350Z didn't have the steering wheel radio control until 06 model, since mine is 03, I can't answer your question. I think this question was raised on earlier thread though ? Maybe you can find it with the search function.

Your correct and I actually started a thread earlier on this topic.
I just thought you had the experience on the '06 radio install.
Cheers :)

i just finished talking to a guy that used to work in a professional sound shop... on I-20, anyways... he told me alot i didn't know about the bose systems... about their lower impedance and such...
if you can do it all at the same time i would definately suggest that... but if you're like me iam rather unable to do that... and i had no advise before hand so i threw in $1400 into the kicker solo baric install i have, just to find out that because the bose runs on such a low impedance 1 Ohm i think... it is killing the performance of my 1200.1 Kicker amp... i was running this amp in 2 Ohm configuration with the subs wired parrallel in 8 Ohm...
God only know what all that means, but i told the guy what i had done and that's what he told me... so to make this quick, you guys with the Non-Bose, are lucky in terms of upgrading components, because you can upgrade anything and get a significant difference, the Bose people... i would strongly recommend getting rid of the HU first... any other speaker not designed to run on the low impedance of Bose is NOT GOING TO GET THAT MUCH A DIFFERENCE... believe me, i bought the TOP OF THE LINE L7 Kicker Solo Barics, with an RMS of like 800 watts and two of them, ran them FULL POWER (for the amp) at 1200 watts, didn't get any distortion what so ever but was still getting not too good a sound because of the impedance differences in the signal...
To get a good sound you have to start with a good sound...
THAT'S WHY I HATE RADIO!

2nd the two above...
i deffinately agree with you haulnazz... but truthfully, i spent around 600 for the amp and subs combined, but (and i have no idea why i did it) i paind around 650 more on installation, if i would have know it wasn't going to sound as good as i would have liked (which i think i said) i wouldn't have spent that much,
BTW this was a different guy... probably the guy i should have talked to first... the shop that did my install only did what i asked...poorly... for the amount of money i gave to them for the install i was definately expecting better...
also... in terms of subs... i went for a look really, because bass is bass what ever it's coming from... my friend has some no name brand crap 10s running off a RF 800watt amp in his truck and they sound alot louder than my L7s... so i'm in no way saying that these are superior... thanks anyways...
