A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I am going to have to switch out the factory radio in my 350Z for a new upgraded head unit. The factory CD player won't eject, and I'm not thrilled with the limited audio settings and poor bass output.
Does anyone have any recommendations on mounting kits for installing a single DIN unit in the double DIN location? I have seen Crutchfield's mounting kit with the typical slot below it, and I know Best Buy sells one too (may be the same brand). Are there any other options for a single DIN unit install? And if anyone used the Crutchfield kit, how does it look, and do you have any pictures?
Many thanks.

Eric:
I just ordered the Metra kit that people have recommended pretty uniformly for the 2003 z. I ordered from Tweeter who was providing free shipping and thus the lowest cost at the time.
My understanding is the 2004+ is more of a black so you may want to make sure you get the correct year for the better color match. For mine, I think the Metra looks as good as a single DIN with a pocket to fill a double DIN slot can look. I'm still not wild about it though. The whole aftermarket head unit still tends to look cheesy in my opinion with the pocket and such.
Because of my criteria for a head unit, I could not find an acceptable double DIN unit replacement, but there are ones out there. Just do some searches in the forums.
Good luck.
