A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Since I will be ordering an 06 Enthusiast I will have the time to pick and choose the exterior color I want. Sometimes the colors printed in the brochures do not really show accurately how some of those colors look on the Z's. I have only seen a few Z's...and I have seen them in white, black and silver. Does the Sunset look like the brochure or does it look like a loud orange? And what about the Daytona Blue? I have a pretty good feel about how the Redline looks as I have seen posts of such, such as that shared with me yesterday.

I have LeMans Sunset. Basically is is copper colored.

yeah, mine's lemans sunset too. Not a bright orange or anything, agree with azjimbo on the copper-ish coloration.

I am glad to hear that about the Lemans Sunset. Having shown the brochure to close friends, everyone pretty much said it was very loud . I thought maybe I had some color-blindness in me! I too view it as copper. I also wonder about the blue. I will click on the site suggested and see how things look. I really appreciate this forum. I appreciate the fact that you folks are so open and willing to share.

They are pretty true colors in these pictures. Lot's of sun on them so they shined brightly.

Thanks for the pics! What you said about getting tickets if you had the Lemans Sunset is what I have always heard about red cars too. Is that really the case these days? Obviously you would have to be speeding a fair amount? Just wondering as I always hear that those strong colors attract tickets. Speaking of speeding, I know a lot of people swear by their radar detectors, but what about the officers who only turn on their radar once you are in sight?

Actually, I haven't been speeding anything over 10% above the speed limit. That is safe considering everyone else around here is about 20% over of the speed limit. I have a clean record. I just didn't want to chance getting a ticket for 70mph in a 65mph with a LeMans. You do stand out.
But, I really, really wanted that color!
My last ticket was in a rental car. They gave their last car.... It was red. I asked for another.... they didn't have it. I was on a back road in Oregon no one within 5 miles. There was a hill, a cop going the other direction. I got popped for going 62 in a 55mph. That was in '97. That sucked since I live in Cali and it wasn't worth it to go back for three week to go to school and keep it off my record.
So, I don't have the guts to by red, yellow, or in this case Lemans cars.

I haven't been pulled over yet with mine, but have been followed quite a few times. :( I just drive 5 miles under the speed limit at that point until they get bored with me! And yeah, a cop could just turn on the radar, but with the range of detectors hopefully he'd have turned it on a few times before you got to him...

The other question: Get a Valentine One Radar detector if you are buying one. They are the best. My buddy swears it has saved him on at least 6-7 tickets. However, he still has a bunch that he still got nabbed for. It is tough to detect the instant on laser before it is too late. Don't get CAUGHT with a jammer. My buddy can't keep his foot out of it. So, I am getting a good idea of what I am willing to live with.
I do not have a radar detector. Never have had one for the Z. I have one I use for long trips in my Firebird. I use the 10% rule on that one too. The radar detector I have is a simple $60 Whisler. It alerts me to CHP on HWY 5 in Cali. Long and straight. It is there to keep me honest. Sometimes it goes off and I have crept up to 15% by mistake. I slow down to 5% over and generally see the cop. Maybe they are kind to you if you back out of it. I do not know.
I figure if they can't see me as well in a grey car. Maybe they can't target me with the instant on laser as easy. Dunno .....
I have a biege truck, silver car, grey car, and a grn car. I just sold a brn 300ZXT and a silver and black 300ZXT for the 350Z.

I really wated that sunset orange too ,but I thought it was to noticeable, I wish I had the guts to get it too, but I will get it next time. I don't see sunset orange color at all. I saw one yesterday after almost 2 years and I was wondering if that is the least popular color. I see silver and daytona blue the most.

There was a kid who had the sunset color like mine, he had it 4 days and totaled it. I can't even imagine :(

I cringe everytime i hear stuff like that, cause I know my insane insurance rate is partly caused by people like that. ughhh

Hello, i have a daytona blue z.The color is very sharp,gets alot of looks.I tinted the windows and the color stands out even more.Looks very cool at night driving in town with all the lights reflecting on it.Just my opinion and i never saw a color on a z that i didn't like.Just pick what you like and go for it.
