Does a Brembo system need Brembo rotors and pads?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I've got a track model and I need to replace my rear rotors and pads all the way around. This of course costs a small fortune and I really don't care if they are Brembo parts or not. But I was told that I have to replace them with Brembo parts. Is this true? Has anyone out there used aftermarket parts on the Brembo system?

A:

nope, not true at all. As long as it designates that its for Brembo models you're fine.

this site has some different stuff

Why would you ever need your rotors replaced as long as they aren't warped? I'm no expert, but it seems like the rotors are just big metal disks with holes around the edges and you could just get them machined if they somehow got hot spots on them or something.

umm rotors need to be replaced, they wear down, get grooves etc.. Once they hit a certain level of thickness, machining them will remove some of the life, they can not dissapate heat as well and may crack or malfunction.
