A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I thought the amp was only in the upgraded Bose system with the subwoofer behind the driver seat. And I thought the amp was only hooked up to the sub, not the rear speakers. Sounds like the service guy doesn't know what he's talking about. But then again, maybe its me :)
I have the non-Bose system, and replaced the HU. The factory HU put out no bass and the quality was very low. Plus the CD player stopped ejecting CDs. The factory speakers aren't bad, but they'll be the next to go.

I would try another dealer and see what they say. If the rear speaker is stock they should warranty it regardless of the HU. That is almost like saying your catalitic converter isn't working due to the aftermarket exhaust. I think the dealer would need to prove that speaker failure is caused from the HU.
Now the dealer could be saying that the stock HU and speakers are considered all one unit and now that you put in a new HU you have modified the unit. Therefore warranty is void on it.
I would try another dealer and see what happens. All they can say is no.

i took my car to the dealer today, with one of my 5 issues being that the factory radio is cutting out the left side of my speakers periodically, one moment it could all be fine and the next (after hitting a small bump) would leave me thinking i'm deaf in one ear...
which leads me to believe that there is a loose connection...
anyways the service rep inquired if i had any aftermarket units installed, i was thinking... can't you see that right through the front windshield??? anyways, my HU is stock, so i told the guy that is was working fine after installation, but after Nissan replaced the HU under TSB for skipping it had been doing that...

Grubbs at where? Irving, Dallas, Arlington or Fort Worth?
i have taken it to Don Davis by I-20 already... the rep tells me that the tech says it is a problem within the HU... and that he would need to send it out to get repaired... and it would cost me $250... i was thinking "i'll be damned" the radio was replaced not more than 6 months ago becase of the skipping... so i gotta talk to him tomorrow...
if it's gonna cost me 250 to fix the factory radio... F*** that... imma get an aftermarket and get my better sound quality anyway...

it's the king's invisible amp. only royalty can see it.

I thought I read that the amp is near the spare tire, under the flooring in the hatch, on the driver side behind the wheel-well. But maybe I just dreamed it up...

Grubbs Nissan is off off 183 in the mid cities area.
Number there is 817-268-3121
Ask for Jeff in service and tell him that your speakers are cutting out, he will have you swing by and verify it and then they will get you a new radio.
I would use the warranty and have the radio just in case you need it later.
