Hey all,
I need to sell my 2003 Black Touring Z with Chromed wheels. It has 42,000 miles on it and is absolutely beautiful..... I hate to see it go but I really must sell it. What do you think it will realisticly sell for if I sell to a private buyer?
I'm not looking for smartass comments like "go to kelly blue book" or something of that nature. I would really like your honest opinion here. Kelley blue book or Edmunds is one thing....what someone will actually pay is another.

This is a stupid question that is just asking for stupid comments. Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds are nothing but guides that give you an idea of what other cars are going for...not the bible. Plus if KBB or Edmunds say your car is worth $20K and you post it for $20K, does that guarantee you'll get $20K? No...you'll get what someone who wants to buy your car is willing to pay you. If your car is priced higher than others in your area do you think you'll get what you're asking? No...so it's based on YOUR market, so do some research around there and don't ask guys here who already own a Z. That's just stupid...I'm sorry but it is.

Those online pricing guides are BS. I looked-up my 2004 Touring coupe's trade-in on Kelley, Edmunds, and NADA. One was $20,000, another was $23,000, and the last one was $26,000.

In economics, a price is also called a "fair market value", which is determined by market forces called supply and demand. It doesn't mean that everyone will buy or sell for that price, it just means that at that price, that which is produced is exactly that which is sold- no surpluses or shortages. All the guy was asking is this approxamate value, which is a good starting point when you're trying to decide who much to sell a car for.

Man, goin crazy over nothin. I paid 24XXX for my 03 lemans sunset touring with 22XXX miles. Everything was in flawless condition regarding the body, interior, and under the hood (as much as I could tell) You've got a lot of miles on it for an 03 though, but good luck with the sale...

It's stupid because:
(1) we have no idea where you live, so we don't know your market
(2) we have no idea what imperfections it has as to deduct from an asking price (i.e. no pictures) What is "beautiful" to you might not be someone else's idea.
(3) we have no idea if it's a manual or automatic
So for anyone to ask such a broad question is ridiculous! C'mon, don't be such a thin skinned wuss, and be a man and do your own research. I mean to get a good idea of what you might expect to get, go to look at completed sales of similar Z's on ebay, or go to craigslist.com to see what they're selling for in your neck of the woods. How hard is it for you to do this without having to ask others here? Dumbass (and lazy).

Ok this took me all of 3 minutes to get an idea of what your car is being sold for by other private parties. Again, it’s easier for you to get your own idea since you know what your car has as far as dealer or aftermarket upgrades, the overall condition, and anything else related to the car’s value rather than asking such a question. Again these examples will give you a better idea of what you can expect to get. I’m sure that’s the kind of help you wanted but it’s like having to hold your hand like a child that’s annoying…hence my ‘stupid’ comment, no harm intended.

I agree with MAG... dumb question. How could anyone give you an intelligent answer to that question? Do your research ( your local kelly blue book) and sell the damn thing for the best offer ( duh), or trade it, what-ever . What anyone says here about what THEY think your car is worth, will be of little help when you go to sell your car.

It is stupid because that's the reason they have Kelly Blue Book and Edmunds...to give you a starting point of what to expect. If you had an old car those services would be of no value and his question would be a fair question (as in other posts on other forums) but for someone to ask that of a fairly new cars of which there are websites devoted to this is lazy and dumb.
Plus thastankanator, I don't see you offering any helpful advice to him either. At least I let him have it but provided some real data for him to ponder over...what do you have? That's hilarious to me.
