A&Q about 350Z
Q:
but we all know his answer... aps ;}
A:
Start off my reading the Jim Wolf Technology thread below and like drivenZ says join the forced induction foums on my350Z.com and 350Zmotoring.com and do a lot of reseach.
If you have an interest you can learn my analysis on APS with a search on my posts. And the APS website on the link below:
Yes, it's true that I really really like APS Twin Turbos. But it's just because I was disappointed with the other kits out there. None of the others went with a fuel return system because it makes CARB cert harder and in order to hold down costs. Many don't even go with bigger fuel injectors for the same reason. If you add these 2 items to any of the kits (some have bigger injectors already), get a really good engine management system, and a real good tune, any of the kits can put out big power for you and pretty safe. I just like the APS TT kit because it is complete from the get go and they have done all the research for you. And their kits are proving real reliable on the street. And the turbos will take you all the way to 800 engine hp if you want or just cruise along at a very sedate stock 400 hp at the wheels or the little bit more interesting 500 to 600 engine hp like I am going with. If you do with APS be sure to get the Kit installed by an APS dealer. The few problems that have come up were self installs and non dealer installs. And get the APS dealer load based super fine turning. That is also a key.
If you are even more knowledgeable or know someone like phxZ31 and have the time, get with him and build your own customized kit. I did that more than a decade before I even heard of APS. That is fun, but make sure the person helping you knows his stuff and how to tune. Real Good! I was lucky and had a real expert helping me customize. I listened good and I am real glad I did. ha.
Good luck.
