A&Q about 350Z
Q:
since purchasing my 03 enthusiast 10/03 i have had some brief moments of bliss with the car. however after the numerous defects and the ongoing issue of what next, i'm at my witts end. as some of you may have read in a past post about a parking lot fender bender "lady backed into my passengers side rear fender", just behind the door. i have since learned the damage is at 4k and 2-3weeks of a rental. the fender has to be cut out and a new one ordered from ny. they are going to do the tear down on my car tomorrow and it may go up in price from there. mind you the car is still totally driveable. if someone would like to host some pics i'd be happy to share the damage. well i was put in a nissan maxima 3.5 SE rental and i gotta tell you it seems as if the z borrows many interior components from this large sedan, not to mention the car has very good off the line perfomance. when considering nissan and their approach to the ongoing list of TSB's its a joke. take for example just several weeks ago, i call the dealer after a week or so of a new noise i'm hearing. their response is " oh, your axle bolts are coming loose and there is a TSB issued for that and you should bring the car in". now knowing that, isn't it enough said that they would not have even informed me of this unless i had mentioned it. grant you i had just had my car in under 3 weeks prior for an oil change. i think after this is all said and done i will be graduating to the Benz family SLK55.

Enjoy your MB. I had a friend that bought a 230CLK.

Its the first model year for the Z33, so most people who were expecting minor to major glitches either said to hell with it and bought one or they were conservative and waited to see what kind of mess there was going to be before jumping in.
Looking through the Autotrader mags here in California, I now see more and more 03 and 04 Zs for sale than I did six months ago. Most likely all these people got fed up with the problems and are trying to off load them.
Its rather sad actually cause it is a nice car.

Too bad that you got so many problems with your car. Some peoples got lucky and some not. Probably I am the most lucky one. Mine is very close to 40k now. Feathering happened twice (at 11 and 23k, but since then I haven't seen any sign of tire noise or roaring, probably last time they aligned the wheel correctly ?? ). The only time I put money down is for replacing the rear tire at about 33k (replaced with yokohama, due to the big nail and I also thing it was about to be replaced anyway). Already have the car for two and half year, and I haven't got any problem other than feathering (which is under warrantY), all I have to spend is to maintain the car. (gas, gas, gas,.... average 22mpg, 6 times of oil changing , replace rear tire once, manual car wash once every other week, tire spray, no wax ...).
I think it's really cheap to own this car (compared with all my other cars)

AMEN!!! I just got rid of mine and bought a beautiful MB C350...
I got sick of all the problems with my '03 350Z.
I expected glitches but not that many....so after several bose system changes (7) brake changes, axel replacement, tire issues (not just the recall) and the list goes on and one I gave up on Nissan as a company and the Z as a car.
You will love you MB the service I recieve from Benz is amazing....
Good luck!

19,281 miles and not one of the curses except the grease streak (and the dam brake dust). It feels like driving a bomb, when is it going to explode? 03 pre-order Track. One of the first 300 made. Kind of scary.

I would not conclude these cars are lemons but the fact that the manufacturers attitude and willingness to step up to the plate and assume liability for a product plagued with problems. i have heard these cars termed as a really hot chick riddled with STD's. when i was about the age of solidus i had a new girlfriend and i remeber the first time i started to go down on her and she stopped me saying she had a yeast infection. i thanked her for her honesty.

I need to add.... My '03 Touring has had no problems other than the
feathering most of us have. I also own a ML320. I take the MB into
the dealer for every oil change... which cost me a minimum of $200...
The MB dealships are highly overrated and their techs are all inbred.
The MB is falling apart while the Z just keeps on going. I'm getting
rid of my MB as soon as possible... I will never, ever buy a MB again.
I've had it with the 'lack of service' and high repair prices. I have
owned 7 nissans and have been happy with every one.
Be forewarned about MB...
