Manual Transmission Fluid

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I have been driving cars with manual transmissions for a long time now. I have never changed the transmission fluid in any of them. I even had an '01 Accord that I drove for 263k miles, on the original clutch.
Today, I had the dealership do an oil change on my car. When talking to the service manager, she suggested that I have the 37k mile service done on my car, which included changing the transmission fluid. She could not explain why it needed it, nor how much it would cost, so I opted not to do it.
Has anyone ever changed the transmission fluid in their manual tranny before? On any manual, not just your Z.

It sounds like she was confused about it being a manual or auto and I'll bet she was new and thought 37K meant all transmissions.

You actually want a little grit in your manual transmission. (And automatic for that matter.) It helps the synchros grip.

This is why some people have trouble with shifting right after changing their manual transmission oil. (Normally because they feel they need better oil)

I did it once on an old 280 with 100k miles.
I never did it on my 300 with 120k.
