A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I Had a 2000 6 speed Corvette and sold it for a new 2006 350z
because i had a 240 z and fell in love with Z cars for life.
But to be honest my vette had more power and was much faster but i could so tell my Z is built better. But let me ask you guys an honest question i still have the option of turning the z in for an 05 Pontiac GTO and have the same car payment do you think its a better car??

The 05 GTO is nice but the 06 GTO is better. But dollar for dollar the "Z" is the best deal. Take it from someone who has had them all over the last 45 years, raw power is not always everything.

not a chance, the Z is so much better in every way...except for the 2 seats i guess. i mean there was a review i just read about the gto at autoweek.com and they had good things to say but personally i wouldnt feel right buying a car thats a half-assed attempt at contininuing a great legacy. Not mention it looks like SH!T.

Look at it this way the 350Z is a scalpel the Corvette and GTO are hatchets.
Keep the 350Z and slice your way through life instead of hacking through it. ;)
I know what you mean about the Corvette. I have a '98 Firebird with 407HP and it is all about raw horsepower and adrenaline.
The Z is about quick fast transitions on a mountain road under the perfect hand and touch. Balance.
The GTO is a simply a hack job of an old classic. Wouldn't own one instead of a Z. The GTO is just a good looking and fast Bonneville to me.
I might replace my Mercury Sable with one but never my 350Z.

Yes you are correct sort of. I was replying to the original poster that said there is a big difference from 05-06 model. There is not, only tail light housing is blacked out. Now there is a big differance from the 04 though. That beeing a new transmision and a ls2 engine I believe as staed before 400hp up from 350. Coolio? BEN

The Z is a lot more reliable than a GM product that is for sure.
My family has owned both. All the Nissans we have bought are way more reliable than any of the GM's this family has bought. We do like the Muscle Cars and feel they are worth the added trouble however.
We used to be buy American only. But, once you see the other side of the coin it is hard to keep forking out your money in repairs when you see others spending that money on fun stuff..... like mods.
I can not count how many problems the GM have caused us.
I can count on one hand how many the Nissans have. And we own more Nissan than any other manufacture.
Then again, we could be just lucky ........ not.
Look at Consumers Reports .... over the years they have been pretty close to the real world findings.

My guess is a 30K Z is also going to be worth 12-15K in 4 years...maybe less.
I'd buy whatever car I like and that fits my needs with the goal of driving it till it wears out....Thats the only way I can see that one can avoid taking a hammering on a big time depreciating asset ...like the Z or Mustang... or any other car for that matter.
I'm a Z fan (have had 2 Z's first=81 280Z second=89 300Z) and still own the 89.... it's going to be impossible to find a car that dosen't loose 50% of it's value in 4 years....Z or not.

Ill bring up a point a 2000 Mustang GT will sell for about $10,000 a 2000 Camaro Z28 is going for about $15,000 and a 1996 300zx non turbo will sell for about $10,000 so you tell me!

I saw a GTO on the road yesterday. It didn't look like anything more than a regular sedan in silver. If he had taken off the GTO nameplate I would have thought it to be a Lumina. I had to take a triple look to make sure it was a GTO. Sure enough GTO. Pulled up next to him in Firebird. He just looked the other way. I wanted to give him the thumbs up. Maybe he thought I wanted to race him.

I would say if you want a sleeper car go buy a GTO and debadge it. ;)
