A&Q about 350Z
Q:
So I'm needing new tires for my car. A co-worker just asked me if I wanted his used 19"s. Unfortunately I'm a girl, so I don't know much about tires. Would the tires fit on my car? I believe its got about 5,000 miles on it and it used to sit on a Honda Element. Is it too big? I know that the rear tires on my car are a bit bigger than the fronts, but these new tires are the all the same. Would it work?

There's so much to tell you. I'd recommend you spend some time reading your owners manual and walking around your car. You'll learn a lot by doing both.
Girls can know stuff about their rides, too.
Good luck.

Dang, the poor girl didnt ask for a e-lecture. To answer your question, there are to many variables that we will need to know to tell you if they will fit your car. Im guessing No. But if you can, post again all the info on the side of the tire, (thats the round black rubber thing.) Im just kidding. Seriously, post that informatin. It will be something like 245-35-19 ZR or something to that effect. You also need to know what kind of lug pattern the rims are. front and rear tires should be 2 different sizes also. Good luck, BEN

19'' wheels and tires will fit your car. I and many 350 owners have put that size on their car. The diameter (19'') is fine but you must look at how wide the tires are too. To do this look at the tire sidewall, (I'm sorry if I am being too basic) and look at the numbers. You should see a number like said above of 245 or 225 ect. That tells you how wide the tire is. I have 245 in front and 275 in back with my setup. Sizes near this either higher or lower will fit, and it is ok to have the same size for all four wheels even though the z normally has a wider tire in the back. It's all about what you think looks best in the end. The second number tells how "tall" the tire is. In other words you will see more tire (when looking from the side) with a 45 than you will with a 35 if the tire is the same width. The second number is just a percentage, so if you have a 225/45 tire, it will be taller than a 225/35. I hope this makes sense and sorry for all the number talk. Good luck! Oh, from your post I can't be sure if you realize this, but you must have 19" wheels to fit that size tire, and your car will only have 17" or 18" wheels stock.

No harm intended. I could have gone into a thousand word essay about what you should look for, but I thought, in the interest of your introduction to your Z, it would be good for you to spend some time getting to know your car.
Extend a hand and get it slapped by posters down the line. Cripes, what's a nice guy to do?
Addendum: I just noticed from your door ding post you've had your car for three years. Maybe you already know it by now.
I withdraw and leave this thread to others.

wait a minute... you all are missing ONE important fact...
she mentioned NOTHING that i know of of RIMS... hello???
Now (correct me if i'm wrong but that too comes with 18's) Rays 18s but 18s none the less...
SO... if your dude is selling you his 19 inch tires ONLY and no rims... andwith the info you gave you have either 18s or 17's no they will not fit obviously... if he has rims cool get em stick em on...

I don't think, I know...
Well, I don't think you know either

"The sum of the rim size and the profile size determine the diameter of the tire."
Could you work that out for me? I've been trying all day.
Thanks.

wow, thanks for all the help guys. As far as numbers go, I've got a 235/50/17..my friend's tires are 275/45/19. ..i'm thinking that they probably won't fit...the set is already balanced and is sitting on a set of Axis Ne-Os...so , my intention is to save money, but I guess this will not work out. I appreciate your guys' patience and taking the time to try and explain all this to me. ..I'm still learning about stuff as I go, but at least I change my own oil, so I suppose that's a start.
Thanks again!
