i've never asked maybe i should... but i know they will get pi$$ed if you do ask for the gun... and then probably find anyhing else to give me a ticket for also...

i got a ticket for passing a cop parked on the shoulder...

granted he had his lights on...

he told me that there was a new law out that you MUST move over a lane and slow to below the speed limit if a cop is on the shoulder...

it had just came out and i had never heard of it and i told him that... a warning would have been nice...

he even LEFT a dude that he had pulled over to get me WHAT AN ASS!!!

and if you're out there reading this pig!... GOOD!!! F*** YOU...

i'm sorry guys but i know when i've done something wrong... and i honestly didn't know.... and this is gonna cost me $190 that i don't have right now and probably won't for a while...

i wasn't even speeding...

Zino,

It is true that they don't have to show you the radar. It is a safety issue of someone getting out of their car and walking around on a highway. Best advise I can give anyone to avoid a ticket when you get pulled over is: 1. Be nice 2. Have your paperwork ready. If an officer has to wait for you to dig for your paperwork, he/she is going to start writing.

I'd say CRY... It sounds really pansy but whats better? a ticket that could be from $90-400 plus it'll increase your insurance or CRY and make up some stupid story like your going to the hospital or your Bro got shot in Iraq... just make something seem sad so he has sympathy for you.. it's really corny but I'd rather get kicked in the balls than have them castrated.

A:

cry? What a bunch of BS. Dont do 60 in a 35. Save the speeding for the highways. Out here in California you'll get eaten alive trying to go the posted speed limit. Everyone drives 80+ around where i live.

I read this book in Barnes and Noble on "500 Excuses For Cops"...they were all submissions from people, but some of them were pretty clever.

A good one was that before the cop walks back to his car, tell him that you're considering applying to the police academy to become an officer and ask him if he recommends the job.. start a conversation, be all thankful, ask lots of questions, be empathetic, etc. and might leave you alone.

I live in Florida (Hillsborough County) and I went to court to get off a ticket (suspended license unknowingly).
Basically, the Judge gave you three options no matter what the infraction was. You can plead Guilty, No Contest, or Not Guilty. If you plead Guilty, you're accepting the charge, but if you plead No Contest you're not saying that you're guilty nor are you saying you're Not Guilty. In any case, you'll only pay the court cost, which is usually less than the amount of the ticket, and no points will go on your license. It doesn't get recorded to the Florida DMV and, therefor, it does not get reported to your insurance. Sometimes, if the Judge likes you, he or she may have you pay as low as $10, attend driving school, or dismiss the ticket. In my case, he dismissed mine after I showed proof (receipt) that I paid the license reinstatment fee. I didn't even get the chance to plead No Contest he just dismissed it.
YIPEE!!

Now if you plead Not Guilty, the Judge will ask you questions on why you got the ticket. If you have a valid argument and he or she thinks that you have a valid case then a new court date will be scheduled and the officer will be summoned to appear in court. In most cases, the officer will be there and you will lose.
So the best thing to do is to plead No Contest or Guilty and only pay court costs.

Hey CarlosZ, when some idiot hits you and then drives off, who ya gonna call?
Just curious. Or you come outside and find your Z keyed, or worse, who then? The speed limits are there for a reason; if you get nailed, try to get it reduced or whatever but for God's sake everyone, quit yer bellyachin'! And just so you know, I hit triple digits almost every day. Never in a 35 zone though, and I have not had a ticket in 20 plus years. sorry, I just had to vent.

Each state is different as far if it is required to show you the gun.

Here, Georgia officers are not required to show you the readout but they do have to ask if you want them to check the calibration on the gun to ensure it is within specs (checked using a tuning fork).

60 in a 35 is way over and with a blind hill that is in fact why it is probably only 35.

I speed every day but when I eventually get caught I will not complain for it is the risk I take.

In a officer's experienced eyes, a speeder is risking lives and they have seen it first hand. If you see enough kids, teenagers, mothers, grandfathers killed contributed to excessive speed accidents you too may start enjoying writing tickets in hopes it may sink in to at least a few drivers.

Same reason they watch people leaving clubs and bars late at night to then pull them over. DUI accidents are among the worst seen first hand.

(oops sorry wasn't thinking ;-) thanks TwoLow!)

Better tell that officer to get educated, because speeding is not correlated with causing accidents. Montana had fewer accidents during the period of no speed limits than when it had them. The only downside was that while there were less fatal accidents, the remaining accidents were more likely to be fatal. BUT, the total number of fatalities was still LESS. There are several studies done on Montana, and also those done in Europe, same results.

Speed is a means to control traffic and issue tickets. If they were concerned with safety, they wouldn't be installing traffic cameras either; they greatly increase the number of rear-end collisions in people slamming on brakes to ensure they don't go into the light late.

MONEY is the driving factor behind all of this "Safety".

Puhleeeeze, enough of the "p*g word for the cops. Would you like to be referred to by one of the many derogatory words used for YOUR ethnic background? Grow up, for gods sake. I really hope you go into court with that
attitude - I want to see how big the fine ends up.

The nature of this forum is light years from that at the Marauder Forum I post in. This sorta of bashing never happens there and I guess it reflects on the age group the car appeals to.

If the bashing would stop and the sharing of information could start you might find a community of owners who can help you further your cars mods. I have met countless Marauder owners that have done my exhaust cheap, sold me parts below retail, and have met up for car shows and such.

I don't see anything to that effect here...just a lot of hating thread after thread.

No hating here at all TwoLow. I've met at least 20 fellow owners just from being in the forums and I've never met any that I don't care for. Heck, I wuold probably even like zino if we met. I was just asking to refrain from a particular deragatory term that I find personally offensive, and he HAD to repeat it in a post and then start in on the personal slams on me. Believe me, I am waaay too old to spar with someone over personal attacks or engage in them myself. Peace.
