A&Q about 350Z
Q:
it doesn't say it won't work. and it has the magnetic pickup on the drive shaft for the base models withous vss. Anybody out there brave enough to buy it and let us base model owners know? the controls are small and would fit nicely in the lower left dash area...

Note the mention of a "vacuum canister" in the description. That implies that it may have a mechanical connection to control the throttle. Since the 350Z has a fly-by-wire throttle, that wouldn't work. The Audiovox site doesn't have much more info on it either.

FACTORY cruise can be added to the base model. All you need is an ECU from any Z other than base, steering wheel switches, and the switches for the brake and clutch pedal (if so equipped). Wiring for the pedal switches is already there so it's pretty much plug and play. There are two catches though. If you buy a used ECU, the keys will need to be programmed or the car won't start. If you buy a new one (expensive), the keys will NOT need to be reprogrammed. Also, there will be no indicator lights in the dash for the cruise. (No 'ON' or 'SET' light)

how sure are you about the ECU? according to the FSM, ASCD is in the routine and there's no indication of being "trim level" specific like the other features (TCS & VDC). I was close to getting the brake, clutch, and all the required steering wheel pieces, but i no longer have my 350. local parts counter only wanted +/- $100. I'd love to see someone do this.
