Has anyone had this happen?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I recently had to start taking a different route to work which is longer than normal due to some construction. Every day since I started taking this route for about 2 months now my low tire pressure indicator light comes on (this is the light behind the steering wheel that is supposed to look like a flat tire). When I have had this happen in the past (like in the winter when the tire pressure gets lower) an alarm sounds, and then I see that light along with the dash computer blinking showing a low pressure. However, there is no alarm and my tire pressures are all fine, but the light comes on every time I go for about 30 miles. This happens to and from work. I've had aftermarket wheels and tires for about 1 year now but have never had this happen before, and it honestly only happens when I travel to work and back. Any ideas?

i used to have that happen with the stocks. I took it to the dealer and all they did was reset the computer. 15 minute procedure. Since then never had the problem, even with aftermarket rims. Its no big deal. They didnt put the tire sensor in my new rims and that light only goes on when i drive longer than an hour...when that happens i just ignore it. There is nothing u can do about it with aftermarket wheels because the sensor sits to fire away to get an accurate read. Hope this helps.

you're kidding me right??? what size rims do you have??? i was thinking about getting some 19" or MAYBE... MAYBE 20"s but i want my sensors still... so you're saying that the sensors don't work or don't work very well with the aftermarket rims b/c of the diameter...?

Well, I don't think you know either

unfortunately im not kidding. I have 19" rims and thats what they told me at the dealership. Whenever I drive more than an hour the tire pressure gauge comes on. Its no big deal but it never tells me now what the tire pressure in my car is. They said the sensors wouldnt work so i had them not put them in and keep them in my stock tires.

The sensors work fine. I have no trouble with the readout and I have 19" rims. What I can't figure out is why the alert light behind the steering wheel suddenly comes on after 30 miles of interstate driving. I have had my wheels for almost a year now, and this just started a bit over a month ago. The only thing unusual about my setup is that I could not install one of the tire pressure sensors on my front driver side wheel. It is hard to explain, but that 3 piece wheel had a minor flaw and the sensor wouldn't fit properly (I wanted the wheels put on so bad that I didn't want to bother with waiting for a replacement over such a minor thing). So I have always only been able to read 3 of my tire pressures which I thought is better than nothing. Perhaps that is why my problem is happening, but why would it just now start after almost a year? Bottom line staticivi03, you can use the sensors with aftermarket wheels, but just make sure you buy some that are compatible. Most are today.
