No, unless you are slipping the clutch. If you are smelling it you should check and see if it is going out. How many miles do you have on the car? Also, you could be smelling the brake pads.
A:
oh i just bought the car. Maybe i'm riding the clutch and pressing the gas at the same time?

Its probably the exhaust pipe coating you smell. All new cars have that and it will stop after a few thousand miles.
A:
But it smells like burning though

The aroma of burning clutch is one of those special smells unlike any other. I you are indeed smelling the clutch, you are well on your way to an unhappy trip to the shop. Assuming this is not your first shift-for-yourself car and that you know how to drive it, I would guess that you're smelling the "new" burning off the exhaust system and engine. The converter gets way hot, and it can generate some serious fumes when the car is new.
A:
you probably picked up some plastic on your exhaust, have you looked??

i think we all had similar problems when we first got the Z. I have auto, so I just had to deal with the smelling of tires for the first week, and the burning plastic on the muffler.
