A&Q about 350Z

I remember someone said in earlier post that the new 06 Z was heavier, so I just checked the specs on 05 versus 06 and according to Nissan, the 06 350Z Enthusiast Coupe MT, is 125 lbs. heavier than the 05, same model. Anyone know where the extra weight comes from ?

Yes, it's true that each year of the 350z has introduced up to a few hundred pounds. In theory, the earliest model will be faster than the later ones because of the weight. The weight was partially due to the interior improvements that showed up later.

Thanks everyone for your input. Basically, from your opinion's I wouldn't notice a hell of a lot of difference in everyday driving between the 03 and 06. I am still curious where the extra weight (125 lbs. for the Enthusiast) comes from. I would imagine the 18" wheels are heavier, maybe a few pounds in the interior. Who knows!

The weight gain for the Enthusiast is 147 lbs, which is about like carrying around an extra human passenger. It is almost the same weight as the 300zx TT.
The nicer interior and other features are probably worth the weight though.

I am using curb weight for Enthusiast MT for comparison. According to Nissan spec's, it's 125lbs. heavier on the 06.

I was comparing Automatic Enthusiast 2003 to 2006 same model, curb weight.

well if the wheels are bigger, which i thought they were the same size, that adds weight.
if the brakes are bigger, that adds weight
if nissan redesigned the interior, it probly added weight- i dont know cause i havent seen a 06 interior yet so i dont know what they changed.
if nissan redisigned the suspension, again i dont know cause i havent researched it, but read somewhere that they were supposed too, that can add weight too.
yall have to look at it this way, like human weight-gaining weight happens fast and easy, and losing weight sometimes is a lot harder to accomplish.
i will say that i have never been in a 350 and until they are really powerful i honestly dont think i will, due to after driving a twinturbo 300zx with a few add ons, well its hard to beat. just my .02
honestly i dont really think you will be able to notice the weight diff-to an extent
