A&Q about 350Z

That se-r must have some mods on it.

Not necessarily. In street races like that the person who has a faster reaction time will more often than not be the winner. When two cars with similar hp/torque numbers race like that from a word of mouth count down the one who hits the throttle first will usually win. It takes a car that has much more power than it's oppenent to over take a car that has a 1 car+ head start. So if that SE-R hit the gas before the 350z did that could have been all the advantage it needed. Also if you listen to the 350z it doesn't sound like the driver is reving up high enough before shifting. Mods could have been a factor but I think it had more to do with the 350z driver not being as good as the driver of the altima

I am not taking anything away from the SE-R but it beat the 350z so bad.

A:

Modded SE-R definitely. Look at the wheels. There's some Altima forum sticker in the window too. It looks like it has an exhaust as well. The 350 has the SE-R by only 30 hp normally, but from the looks of it, Id bet that SE-R is at or above the stock Z HP with mods. Plus, the Z is a couple hundred pounds heavier, and is carrying an extra passenger. I say modded, lighter SE-R wins this one everytime. Mod that Z a bit or teach the driver to shift a little better and the tables will turn.

A:

the altima is a cool car, but why does it have such a big gap in the front fender wells compared to the back? that looks terrible and why do they do that? same with the new maxima

A:

Does the Z weigh more than the Altima SE-R?

A:

No it doesn't. The 350z weights from 3188-3225 depending on the model you get. The SE-R comes in at 3279 MT or 3316 AT. In this case the 350z did weight more becuase of the extra passenger but not by much, maybe 50-100 lbs. It's easy to say the SE-R won becuase it had mods becuase we could actually see the car but who is to say the 350z didn't have mods either. The fact is we didn't see the 350z at all. Compare the specs and sure the 350z looks like it should come out on top but it was driver skill and him getting a slight jump that led to the SE-R winning.

FYI, the only difference between the regular Altima and the SE-R, is suspension, wheels, and badges. The SE-R has the holeshot with a redlight, but also a traction advantage as a FWD. The Altima was not stock. And it sounds like the Z is an auto.

I guess why this interests me is our other car is a 2003 altima 3.5se and while it is fast I think it is no where near as fast as my 350z.

I found this link while searching and it shows the Altima 3.5 se with the stats

http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2105.shtml

0-60 5.9 seconds
1\4 mile 14.4 @ 100mph

With numbers like this the SE-R may be even faster.

A:

sor those who think the se-r altima isnt fast, it will run 14 stock in the quarter given they are high 14 but 14's non the less. i would take it to the driver for that vid but i would not by anymeans call the the se-r "not a fast car"

A:

I guess my definition of fast is a little different then some peoples.

Currently parting out 1990 300zx TT.
