Stock means the way it rolls off the assembly line. I can make 400HP with the 350 N/A, but not stock.
A:
Stock means stock components. Most cars come from the factory severely detuned for regulations/emmissions. It is possible to retune for extra power.

i dont think you can make 400hp N/A with the Z. The only way your're making 400hp is with forced induction(super/turbo charger). As far as performance with FI you can get in the 12's or so in the 1/4.

Like spudea said a lot of cars come from the factory detuned which means that if you retune them you can get more power from them with stock parts. The problem with the 350z is that it's bascily maxed out for potential. As people said when they tried to increase the hp to 300 they ended up losing torque. The VQ is basicly maxed out in current form so the only way to squeeze more power from it is to change the stock parts and/or go with forced induction.

it's possible... but it's probably gonna cost alot more than just buying a complete kit (and don't jump me for this) like the APS... b/c i've heard this a million times that the stock fuel sys. will not or have trouble supporting over 300hp...
so before you sink your money into a new fuel system and other N/A tuning... just to find out that there was a safe and reliable FI kit that already included everything you need...check it out... don't take the cheapest way but the way that works the best...

It's the 300ZX TT that can go to 400 HP nearly stock. The 350Z would need some extra hardware to do this.
