Dear living in a dream world,

The tire feathering has not been corrected and it would not and has not been a issue where you can return the car. The tires are not covered under the tried to correct the problem three times thing. The 2005 350Z has the same double lower ball joint suspension. Yes, Nissan went a different tire compound. I ahve not seen what the tread wear rating is on the new tire. But, if it is 140 like the 03 and 04 models you are going to experience the cupping of the inner tread block between 10K and 12K miles.

On the Chip, also known as an integrated circuit, there is no Chip replacement that can be performed on the Nissan Electronic Control Module (ECM) since they are all soldered in place and conformal coated. What you would need to do is either reprogram the computer with a Consult II scantool or have the Technosquare people in Los Angeles reprogram it for you. You could change out your computer with one from an 05 if you programmed it for your car with the proper program but that would be redundant since a reprogram would accomplish the same thing.

These salesmen will tell you anything to sell a car, most will tell you what they think you want to hear. Of coarse I do believe the car can be returned at any time, if feathering occurs, but they will only give you 60% of what you paid for it.

According to information in the major auto magazines, Nissan tweeked the camshafts, the valve timing, and changed pistons to get 300 h.p, not the ECU, although the ECU in the new engine may have different settings to accommodate the changes.

you know the salesman told me that i couldnt take my car to the carwash. it has to be hand washed. I wash it myself anyway, but has anyone ever heard that??? he said the car was too wide to fit in a autmatic car wash.

ngm is correct. There is no chip involved in making the Z 300hp. In my opinion Nissan tweeked the engine to offer the same HP ratings that Ford offers with its Mustang. Consumers often look at HP numbers vs. price when purchasing a vehicle. I like torque. The higher HP and higher rev range of the anniversary model causes the peak torque to be less than the previous models. Their acceleration numbers are the same accoriding to the Car and Driver test I read. In other words, the special edition Z is nothing more than a special edition.

A:

300hp/260 torque has led to slower times to 60 and 1/4 mile.

A:

The 300 hp was achieved by advancing the ignition timing 1 degree.
The Tire cupping fix is salesman hype, he has been told by nissan that the problem is fixed on the o5's because all 05's have the new treadblock designed tire. I't will cupp , it's just a matter of when......

Gadzooks!! And people have been spending thousands on intake and exhaust mods.

Why didn't you announce this sooner, 1z?

Advancing ignition timming is nothing new, it's common knowledge that it will increase hp. The computer has been re-mapped to advance the timing over the power curve at different levels.
As for spending thousands to gain 13 hp, you can do that with a $250.00
k&n cold air intake......or a $150.00 jwt. Or $40.00 for a air hog filter....... or free with no filter at all, hey you may just get 15 hp that way...

First of all Von, I know what an integrated circuit is since I worked in a DoD weapons research lab for nine years. As for the rest of my post, it was just FYI, I did not present it as fact. Also, I spoke to the new Z owner today and he told me his contact did not work for Nissan, but was an owner of an 03 Z who has contacts within Nissan. As for the "chip" or should I say a silicon or gallium arsenide substrate that was developed into cental processing unit of the nissan 350 computer via masking design and then photolithography, etc. you probably are right...but what's wrong with wishful thinking and if this "chip" does exist, I will let all of you know.

350Z-speeding-tickets. What??? Gallium, selenium, arsenic, potassium, we all know big words. This is a Z forum. There is no magic Z chip!

A:

the new 300 hp comes with a lower torque so im happy with my 287 and 276 torque. the new cars have a different lower plenum then the old ones. the 35th aniversary comes in black yellow and i think silver but not sure.

"but what's wrong with wishful thinking and if this "chip" does exist, I will let all of you know."

wishful thinking? LOL the point everyone here is making is that we KNOW 100% that this chip doesn't exist. So the time for wishful thinking is over. We also KNOW that '05s STILL have tire issues. The only thing nissan changed was the tire treadwear rating. So it takes longer for the feathering to appear.

78 280z Black Pearl 132K miles? could be 232k miles? who knows...

The 35th Anniverisary 350Z comes in Ultra Yellow, Silverstone and Superblack.

It is a cross between a Track and Touring model. They have had a model with similar features available for 2004 in Europe.

I am happy with the 287 horses I have and the 274 lbs of torque.
