You guys need to check the Service and Maintainance Guide that came with your car. For everyday drivers that don't take trips that are less than 5 miles in normal temperatures Schedule 2 should be good enough. That requires oil change every 7500 miles. I personally fit this schedule so I decided I will go with 5000 miles on oil changes and follow SCH 2 for all other maintenance since I only use my car for weekend use or long trips that usually do not take me onto dusty roads. If I run into a sand storm or two. I'll just go ahead and change out the oil. It's cheap. NISSAN also recommends mineral oils be used per the manual. So, that would stop me using synthetic oils. I think I will stick with syn oils for a while and see if there is an oil consumption issue. I can't see that syn oils can be bad for the motor after break in period. Just perhaps uncalled for with our cars.

Now if you:
1) Take shorter trips of less than 5 miles or less than 10 miles in freezing conditions.
2) Do a lot of stop and go traffic in HOT weather or low speed driving for long distances.
3) Drive in dusty, rough, or salt spread roads.
4) Tow a trailer or use a car top carrier. ( I do not think many of us would)

Then, you might want to go with Schedule 1. That would require an oil change every 3570 miles.

Even the "Premium Maintenance Schedule" Doesn't require you change your oil any sooner than 3750 miles.

The best thing to do is pull out the Service and Maintainance Guide that came with your car and decide what program you want to go with. :)

So with that being said you would only do one oil change until 15K miles.
According to Sch 2 @ 15,000 you should then:

Change oil and filter
Check Auto trans fluid (if app)
Check Man trans fluid (if app)
Brake lines and cables
Brake Pads, rotors
Criuse Control vaccum hoses (if app)
Differental oil
Drive shaft boots

Then at 22, 500 miles:

Oil change

Then at 30K miles:

Major Service of over 22 items - See Service Manual.

Now for me Schedule 2 will cover how I need to maintain my car since I do not race the car every weekend. I have a seperate race car for that.
I just use my car to bimp from one place to another.

Now, if you guys are racing your cars everywhere you go or live in a entreme climate you might want to go with the Premium Schedule since you are more prone to wear things out faster.

No matter what according to what NISSAN has laid out in the Service and Maintenance Manual do you need to change your oil any sooner than 3750 miles.

Like I said earlier .... I will still change mine at 5K and use syn oil .... that is what I am comfortable with. I believe clean oil is key to a long lasting car. However, I do not see the need to get under there every other month to do a oil change. For me 5000 miles is like 6 months of driving my Z. So a couple times a year is just right. ;)

I have a question about proving that you changed the oil....

What if you changed the oil yourself? Do you give yourself a receipt?

I don't have a 350Z...yet, but I know if I get a nice car, the only person that going to touch it and breathe on it is ME.

I always question people who spend a lot of money on nice cars, but then they let the valet person (who's probably doesn't have a drivers license) park it, OR let a random person (who's probably not legal in the U.S.) wash it, OR let a person (who's probably not certified) fix it, etc....etc....etc.....

O.K. now we're off topic...

Like I said above, receipts will most likely not be needed......I got a brand new engine and I didn't show the dealer one receipt for an oil change.
