Voltmeter on dash

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

great...thanks for the info ! Must be a good alternator, needle doesn't seem to move either at idle or up to speed. Dealer didn't address why my battery was dead , followed by in-op 'triple meter'. So I just wanted to make sure things were acting as normal !

Unless your rectifier is bad, you should always show a constant voltage on a voltmeter.

mine isn't constant anymore!!! it will go up to the 14 mark then bounce down to like 12 then run back up to 14 then bounce back to 12... also the triple gauge meter lights and interior lights dim when this happens...

maybe its because of the 1400 watt Kicker amp in the back LOL! 0 gauge wiring...

i know i'm being stupid you don't gotta tell me... LOL!

staticivi03 - Yes, a grounding kit would be a good idea. ;)

Grounding kit?

C'mon, your guy's cars aren't that old. I grounding kit only benefits cars with bad grounds, like OLD cars.

Waste of money IMHO

well if your talking about AMP grounding... the amp is grounded with the same ZERO Gauge wire that runs from the battery... and note: that the ground wire must be no longer than 3 feet...

or are you talking about those engine grounding kits?

yup those are pretty nice i might just get one for the looks if nothing else... but if helps out my system i'd definately invest... I also need a capacitor... theres a guy that sells them on ebay... but they are BatCaps

there are like 4 different levels of them but for the most part they are 50% capacitor and 50% Battery... they do this because, the battery has a larger capacity for energy storage but the capacitor can give off it's full charge in like a half a second but for only 8 seconds...

so having a battery/capacitor mix unit you get the capacity of a battery and the discharge of a capacitor... here's the link tell me what you think...

static: If your meter is moving the way you say it is, you could be cruising for a set of blown diodes on your alternator.
