Hey don't knock the Silverstone... it owns. By the way, unless anyone here knows what they're talking about, they'll know that Ferrari's are pieces of garbage. The only nice feature is they are handmade, they use some of the same parts as Volkswagons and the clutch takes about 5 years to get used to. Not to mention they spray that ridiculous foam stuff on them that wastes away within a year. Every single Ferrari I've ever dealt with was the worst. I'd rather drive a 1991 Chevy Corsica. People just don't understand Ferrari is expensive because of the way it was made. They're not that fast. A few of them are, but most aren't. You show me a Ferrari that was well worth the sticker price and I'll show you a Lamborghini with a Ferrari symbol on the hood. I'll take a Z with some minor modifications such as C.A.I. over a Ferrari 355 convertible any day of the week. "Hold it's own?" He was lucky the Ferrari didn't stall at the traffic light. You want to spend that kind of cash? Buy a damn Lamborghini and save some face.

i by no means am a ferrari expert but i don't believe that the 355 is the top of the ferrari chain either... i'd definately like to see someone post some stats side by side... my hypothesis is that the 355 probably isn;t going to be too much faster than the 350 anyway...
maybe the 355 was infact trying hard (from the way you described the sound) and just didn't want to tell the truth that his $100,000+ car isn't too much faster than one under $40,000...
Guys don't get me wrong i love Ferraris and i have all my life... in fact i gotta poster of an F50 right behind me... (probably the closest i'd get to one at this time)... but anyways...

Stock 1/4 mile of 12.8 (fastest time I found for the Ferrari 355) is much faster than a 13.7 time of a 350Z. Even 13.0 is.

Yes, I could imagine a car like Elise (2005), or 911 (2005) probably scores faster lap time than old F355 on a track. Not sure about 350z, although I have seen on the magazine that 350z (track 2003) scores better time than 911, M3 SMG 2003 (only corvertte was faster).
But for 0 - 60 and above, the F355 is faster than z350. (side by side comparation).

I merely pointed out that one can get mucho satisfaction from blowing a 355's doors in as you go by out in the real world with an APS turbo 350Z.
