traded Z :-(

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Bye guys. Entering a new stage in my life and I had to trade the Z for something with a back seat. My 350z was the best car I've ever owned and I will miss it dearly. Thanks.

yeah you know that you were into the z because it was the latest trennd , you had no passioin for the car , you can always get a second car if you liked it that much .

but i guess when you have the dough a car is just an accesory.

im not trying to rag on you , but you do need to realize that , and plus im drunk.

Hey azjimbo, you are confusing this issue by applying logic and common sense, ha. But, I'm with you. I have a Toyota Sienna to haul the crew and a 1994 Mazda 626 as a beater car. Where there is a will, there is a way! My observation is that some people are just not true sports car enthusiasts at heart. They get a sports car because they think it's cool, but their heart is just not in it and they just drift away. Sad.

I can remember when I was in elementary school and my older brother, a Datsun mechanic, was telling me about installing "power paks" on Datsun 2000 cc sports cars and how fast they would run and corner. I forced him to get me a ride on one of those and the rest is history. Then he was talking about this new sports car, called a 240Z that he was building for racing for other people. From then on it was back and forth about how it could blow away the corvettes and muscle cars of the day on a road course with the right performance equipment. He gave me a ride in a suped up 240Z and I knew right then I was hooked. Some customer turns out had about 25 grand to give him to drop into that little pocket rocket. A LOT of money for the time. Man was that a blast! That either ignites a real spark in you somewhere that never goes out or it doesn't. Now my brother helps his son restore every kind of Z car you can name and the old 1600 and 2000 Datsun sports cars. He has 8 or 10 he is working on now. It's just as much fun for me to drive one of his restored 240s or 280s as his modified 300X twin turbo. Different, but fun.

I work with an M.D. who as much excited when I got my 350Z as I was. Just like a little kid at Christmas. He hardly ever talked to me before he found out about the 350Z, he was always "driven" with his work and much too busy for conversations. Now he can't shut up! ha We do epidemiological medical research where I work, very stiff suit stuff, and many were shocked at his behavior! ha. But I love it. He can't wait for me to get the turbos on! He was almost happy when his wife wrecked his M3 so now he could replace it with a 350Z. She was ok so he didn't have to replace her, ha, but that was beside the point! It IS kinda scary for me to be alone at times with someone who is even crazier than me, ha. I know more about motors than he and he has more knowledge of suspensions than me. They laughed and said we had mutually compatible psychoses, till the conspiracy grew and got out of hand as you will see.

Then a cute nurse got a 350z roadster and the motorhead discussion group grew. Her being so cute suddenly kinda made it cool to be a motorhead. Eyebrows were really raised when a pharmacist, who is working 3 jobs so he can support his wife's Viper habit, was hired. he he. They did not know at the time they were hiring another gearheard into our little conspiracy, oh my!

Most of the other's around there don't even know what we are talking about. Laugh, shake their heads and roll their eyes at us. We were hired to be professionals and have a certain amount of dignity! ha I kind of like it that way, ha. Exclusive. Time weeds out the untrue believers, ha.

They all just gave in to the inevitable when they accidentally hired a manager with an M3 roadster! Invasion of the body snatchers. I think they are actually afraid to pi$$ us off at this point... You know, the Stepford Wives syndrome…

Lodus:

How do you like your Lexus IS350?
Nice looking car and it has decent power.

I work right next one of Lexus' Corporate offices and see a lot of cars before they hit the dealer's lots.

I don't know why anyone would give the guy a hard time about this? Change happens, people don't even stay faithful to their wives but they expect a marriage between someone and their car....

A:

i don't know about you guys but my girl(s) like the Z... it has all the room i need one seat for me and one seat for her...

and for the moral people the "(s)" thing happened to be purely accidental... but it seems to be falling apart...

luckily i have one female in my life that will always be there for me... plus you can spell her name with one letter "Z"...

this car has so much attitude IMO that it has to be a female...

and since i am not married and have no kids the Z fits my life like a glove...

Well, since my 300zx is my daily driver, it hauls bags of bark, bookcases, luggage, etc. no problem because of the huge unobstructed hatchback. The two main "impracticalities" are the fact that you can't take more than one passenger, and it sucks in the snow. I don't really like driving people around, so the 2 person thing is often an advantage. But they haven't made hatchbacks that big since the Rx-7/300zx days, and I doubt you will see any soon.

A:

I am not giving this guy a hard time. But it cracks me up when people say this is no room in the Z. You get the same story from car critics. The Z is a 2 seat sports car and does not pretend to be anything else.

A:

mine pretended to be a porsche once.

This IS350 is good. I like it. It's faster than my Z was, has a great interior, wasn't too pricey. What it lacks is personality. When I looked at my Z, lowered to nearly scraping the pavement, I thought "man that is one bad ass ride" and couldn't wait to hop in. When I look at the IS350, I don't feel the same excitement. I still like the car, but I don't feel the same passion. It's just something I'll drive for a while and trade in.

Anyway, the Z had to go. Lots of people here seem to think it's just a matter of buying another car \w a back seat. I wish things were that simple. We're all in different situations in life and I just tried to make the most responsible decision for my new family. All I can says is I will miss the Z and I regret never getting to install the supercharger I was saving for. But life goes on.

hey just because you bought a lexus doesn't mean you can't tune that as well...

have fun with that... unless your thinking of trading that too... i would then just say that if you have a Z fetish you should probably look for a Z32 somewhere that is selling for a good price and keep that as your driver and let the wife drive the 4 door...

that's what i would do... my Z is here to stay...

Up untill last year I had driven nothing but two seater cars, but I'm a single guy with nothing to haul but myself. My first car with more than two seats was a S13 hatch, I liked that car and I'll admit I found having a car with a back seat is nice sometimes. But I sold it so I could buy my 2-seater 240Z and I do not regret it.

I bought an eagle talon to drive in the winter, but only because I dont wanna ruin my rust prone 240Z. If I had a 350Z I'd drive it everyday, it's a new car so theres no reason it shouldnt be driven in all conditions.

LOL!!!... true that... i remeber checking out a roadster in the showroom floor...

THEY ACTUALLY HAD INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIT A GOLF BAG IN THE TRUNK!!!

i'm guessing they should be taking lessons from you... i'll bet you could fit a golf bag, a dog, gifts, luggage, snacks and a gerbal in the trunk... with room for a cold brew in the ONE freaking cup holder!!!

my 05 z has instructions on the trunk that explain how to fit 2 golf bags.. i don't golf.

it also has 3 cup holders.

static... you got jipped.

A:

Plenty of room for 4 people or more in the Z. I'd bet you could fit 6 depending on how you hacked them up.

A:

Yeah Lodus, you are right. I should not have sounded critical of you. There were times years ago when I only had 2 cars (one for me one for wife with 2 kids in the equation) and neither was a 2 seater. (Damn I am quite the poet, ha). So you'll be back like me to a sports car at least by the time the youngest kid gets a driver's license. I bet. And like you said, we are all at different points and places in time... Once I listened to BS like that from my wife and accomodated her. Now, if she griped tooooo much, I'm afraid I'd have to trade her in on a new model and keep my 350Z! Like God intended! (he he) Good luck and hurry back to the Z
Continuum.
