A&Q about 350Z
Q:
So, if this is true what would the new 2007 nissan 350z offer? I imagine that the platform is going to see at least a V8 or a turbo 6 for the G35 (G45, G35T, or GT-R?) and possibly a turbo 6 (or less likely a V8) for the Z. This will come as a response to the release of the Supra to try to steal their thunder. Remember the Supra is coming, and it's gonna kick some american ass.

A:
I was ready to go for a $31k Z, but I will not go for a $45k or more Z.
Nissan's memory can't be that short, can it?
A:
If the Z does get the same V6 turbo as the GTR it will no longer be the 350z. The new V6 for the GTR is going to be a VQ 3.2 twin turbo. That would mean if the Z got this engine it would be called a 320Z. The only way it would stay 350z is if Nissan just added a turbo option to the 350z line up.

A:
Well if it's going to kick some American ass it better come with more than 450HP...and cost less than $40K.
It's going to have to to be able to beat the "450+" hp Shelby GT500 that is estimated to sell for about $40K.
Not an easy task. The price is going to be the deciding factor. The last Supra was expensive for it's time.
75 280Z: Eibachs/AGX's/intake/85 5spd & Rear end. Soon to be V8 GOD!
02 WRX: 5spd sedan/225 45-17's/Eibachs/Cobb tubular swaybars/Cobb Tuning stage 2/Accessport. 0-60 sub 5 seconds wet or dry.
A:
Well it's already estimated to have a price tag of around 75k so it's not going to be an affordable car by any means.

Speculation is all anyone has right now im changing my mind and saying it wont be released for purchase till 2008 or 2009. Though 450hp and awd is something no american car has, not to mention stock boost is easily changable if I could afford to get one id pick the car up and have a boost controller on it before I left the lot.

$70.000 for a chevy??? I don't care how fast or powerfull z06 is, it's a chevy. The rest you guys can figure out.

A:
you guys are thinking very 1 dimensional... instead of looking at the Z06 and saying, oh the GTR better be able to beat the Z06, why not look at the other cars on the market today that are obviously good selling cars that are in the 50k-70k price range. All of them certaintly wont be faster than the Z06 but that doesnt mean they wont sell. M3, M5, 645, boxster/911/cayman, clk, XK, SC430, S4, just to name a few. even when the Z06 comes out these cars will continue to sell and as long as the GTR can compete with the above named, it will also sell.

OK nobody said the Z06 is gonna steal the market, were talking about performance not sales numbers and the z06 will dominate.
The 2006 Corvette ZO6 is running with 505hp at 6200rpm and 475lb,-ft of torque at 4800rpm stock. The engine is a small block V8 with cylinder capacity at 7.0 liters. The ZO6 goes from 0-60 in less than 4 seconds with a Top Speed of over 200mph! They increased the speed by reducing weight. Most of the steel was replaced with aluminum and most of the current aluminum was replaced with magnesium which is lighter than aluminum apparently. Just like the steel frame on the current 05 corvettes is now a hydroformed aluminum frame with a lightweight magnesium engine cradle for the 06. The hood was switched over to being Carbon Fiber which took off about 5 pounds.
This baby will smoke you bone stock even if you have your little APS twin turbo kits.

Thanks for the information, but anyone can go to the website(s) and look up information on the car.

Speaking of that, look what's in my garage! I wish I could claim to be the owner, but it's my neighbor's, he's getting hardwood floors and had to move his furniture into his garage so the vette is just visiting.
Beautiful lines; these pictures don't show them well. 50K miles, the exhaust smells real strong, and lingers in the air like it's running rich. Is that normal?

So how can one tell just from the exterior of the 2005 vette(Z51) to the Z06? Can you really get the 2005 vette for under MSRP? I heard it was selling over that. If the Z06 will cost no more than $55k, then it would be a great buy. Hell, i would work as much overtime to get one!!

i still don't agree with the "why buy an 86K car when i can buy a 40" car and sink 40K into the engine and whoop the other car's ass" crap...
because if you take the same 40K from our cars buy a POS civic for what? 7K and sink the remaining 33K into the engine and god know what else... you'll whoop the hell outta our cars....
so what's the point???
POINT IS you buy an 86K car because YOU CAN!!! usually people in that price range don't care about whooping other peoples cars anyway... but strictly pleasure... but i wouldn't really know cause i'm not a frickin millionaire... so let me ask...
Who really gives a S***???
i love the discussion of the cars (really) but just simply stating that you could take that money use half and buy a lesser of vehicle and mod it out to whoop a car of higher value... can be said about ANY car so why bother?

All this "give me that money and I could ..." stuff is pointless. Of course you could. Look at the toys Jay Leno pays for.
As for me, if I met a guy who had $86,000 invested in a 300ZX, I'd be laughing my ass off thinking "Crap, for that kind of money, I could have a brand new Z06."
Or wait a year when the lookee-loos get tired of the hard edge of Z06 driving and get one for $70,000 - assuming, as you have, that Z06s are going OTD for $86k.

C3 is the best identifier, along with mid-year. I call mine "72 Corvette." Most who own anything earlier than 97s call them "whatever year Corvette." The newer guys call theirs C5s or C6s: "I have a 98 C5."
Post Edited (Jun 12, 6:50pm)
A:
you haven't paid attention. Maybe it's a Corvette thing, but many can tell the different year-to-year features. I'm pretty good with the C1, C2, and C3 - but those are the models I started looking at when I was shopping for one.
A:
I can't smell it in the exhaust. You didn;t say whether he has a stock set-up. Mine's stock except for headers and a repro carb.

guys, you took it too far.....i did not want to start any arguments about pricing or Z06's performance. I was just trying to figure out how fast the new GTR/350z was going to be, and yes i know how unbelievably faaaaaassssst the z06 is compare to our 350's. I just don't know how fast is gonna be compare to the new Supra....

Why do you say GTR/350Z when Nissan has said NOTHING about uprading the 350Z?

Stop calling it the new Supra becuase it's not gonna be called be called that, it's not even gonna be a toyota. It's currently called the Lexus LF-A and it debuted at the Detroit Auto show:
It supposed to have a small V10 around 500hp.
