A&Q about 350Z
Q:
After reading over this forum for almost 6 months, I have finally purchased a 350Z! Early this evening (in NJ), I decided to lease a 2005 Touring (Super Black) Coupe. I managed to get the dealer to throw in the Aerodynamics Kit for free and also the car came with a power sunroof. I was shocked because I had never seen the coupe with a sunroof. But, I was told that it was a custom install. I told the manager that I preferred black, but that I refused to pay for the sunroof, because it was an extra that I did not need. So, after negotiating, I managed to have him knock off the price of the sunroof from the vehicle price. Thanks for all the info guys!
By the way does anybody own a Z coupe with a power sunroof?

Theres enough roof space for the glass to retract back?
I'd love to see that myself. With the angle of the roof, and it being such a short car I just can't see there being enough roof there to hide one when open...guess you have proved my logic wrong!

TwoLow,
I made a slight mistake in explaining the sunroof. The sunroof glass retracts at an angle, thus leaving some of glass exposed. Today, was my first full day of playing with my new "toy".

godwino - Sound really nice. I had an aftermarket sunroof installed in my '89 Probe GT a number of years back. It worked great and I didn't have a problem one with it for the 10 years I owned it.
The structure on the Probe GT isn't nearly as strong as this new Z so I wouldn't worry about such things. Now, if you plan on turning it into a full race car and loading it up with superman stresses, then you might have an issue.
However, Nissan had built this car to be a roadster first then a coupe so I am pretty sure it will handle this minor modification as long as it was done properly and of good quality. Matter of fact, in many cases that frame around the sunroof probably add to roof strength. Don't you think?
This is my personal exprience and opinion ..... I really don't see any problems with it.
My concerns would be how it looks and functions more than a structural issue. IMO

I was also shocked with my insurance as well on the 350Z. I was expecting it to be at least twice of what my 84 300ZX Turbo was. It was only like $10 more per month.
I'm 46 get all the discounts, no tickets and such .... However, that wasn't always the case. I know in NJ it is much higher so I think that's a great price for insurance considering your age.
You'll find the more you look and drive the car the more you'll like it. BTW - Have you found the Z in the door vent? I did not expect this. It's cool. I like to open my doors and look at it from time to time when I am chatting with a bro. It just reminds me how nice the car is. Man I am so glad they built this car and kept it to a resonable price.
Try photobucket for posting pictures it is really easy and all you do is copy and paste the links into the body of messages. It will come in useful in the future. ;)
No worries about the pictures .... whenever you get around to it ... would be cool ... If you are too busy ... don't bother.
Thumbs up !!! Enjoy !!!
