got a 350Z

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I just got a 2004 350Z. I'm looking at spending less than $2000 on an exhaust, headers, and cold air intake. Can anyone recommened good products at reasonable prices. I'm not worried about sound. THANK YOU

I just bought an Injen exhaust (true dual) but haven't received it yet (around $850). I have an AEM intake but it's location allows water to easily get in so I am not very satisfied with that. On sunny days, my car runs and sounds great but rainy days I drive like a turtle to avoid puddles.

I am not sure about how or what they would drive but I think they would drive very slow if they did.

I got the exhaust from a store that also sells on eBay.

justinrhenry,

Does you intake sit directly in front of your driver side tire ? If so have you had any issues with water getting in ? Mine (AEM) does and water comes directly through the vents on the wheelwell.

The issue with the AEM is that the filter if located in front of the driver side wheel and right behind the side marker and the wheel well has some vents that allow water to get in easily into there which causes my car to being to idle very oddly because the filter can breathe until the water is gone. Just yesterday I took it apart and it basically ended up something like yours but without the pipe that goes to the grill. Good thing cause last night and this morning it rained. Now all I'm looking for is a pipe like yours that goes to the grill to allow more air to get the filter.

justinrhenry- where did you get the fairlady badge for your car?

A:

headers, unless you are installing them yourself are going to be crazy expensive for labor, since its sucha a pain in the a$$. I say, plenum, HF cats, pulleys, exhaust, and JWT popcharger.

What are those things that you speak of? Where should I get them? And how much are they? Thank You!

I ordered the Injen SES Exhaust, K&N Typhoon Intake, and a grounding kit from www.thezstore.com. The exhaust is taking a loooooong time, but I got the other things and they were all priced very well. The K&N Intake is nice how the inlet sits against the front grill, which prevents water from getting sucked in. I know a guy who had another intake that sucked in water and ended up throwing a rod. I ordered the Kinetix plenum from www.autocarparts.com and it was priced well. This plenum is nice because you don't have to get a new strut tower bar (saves a few hundered $). I am also going to be ordering the Stillen Headers soon. It seems well priced and I won't have to lift the engine and will try the install myself. I installed everything myself and it was pretty easy. I have never worked on a car before other than small stuff (brakes, oil changes, etc.).
