Does Restore really work

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i was at an auto parts store the other day and i saw a silver bottle of stuff called restore or something like that. it said it was supposed to restore lost power in old engines, and i was wondering if this stuff actually works?
A:

nothing will work like an overhaul rebuild.
A:

yeah, but i don't quite have the money for something like that
A:

Kinda, it conditions your seals and such.
A:

So what about fuel injector cleaners and sealers, such as lUcas . Dont they apply more wear to the gasoline chambers during the time of "cleaning". I had cleaner my system with one of these when I switched to 89 from 87 and noticed no change in performance except for the one gained due to higher octaine. Gas milege hoewever seems to be higher.

thanx

I repeated the test that they did in their ads; I used a compression tester before and after using Restore. I saw results similar to theirs, believe it or not. I had a 25% variance in compression range before and had an 18% variance after. Not as wonderful as their ads claim, but on the right track.

That might help with oil burning and blowby, but excessive blowby doesn't always decrease power. If you're looking at Restore to bring back power, it will disappoint. If you're looking at it to reduce oil consumption and blowby, it will help a little.

alright, thanks
