We are considering getting a G6 so we test drove one (V6 201HP). When we floored it at 0MPH there was sagnificant tire slippage... Enough to make it so the rear end slide (which I thought was unusual because its FWD). Anyways... Is there anything you can do to prevent the wheel from slipping that much.
Its stock engine and everything, and it was a sunny day with no rain what so ever.

Most newer cars have traction control, which reduces engine power if wheel spin is detected.
I am not sure about the G6, but usually there is a button on the dashboard to switch the traction control off, so your 16 year old kid can do smoke shows for his friends.
Find the button and turn it back on................and as poseted above, don't floor it at a standing stop. Many cars can spin the wheels on dry pavement.

Not many things to stop it, what you SHOULD do is invest in a really good set of front tires, sticky street tires but good in the rain.
BUT, TheSilentChamber gave the best advice. I had a 90 chevy lumina v6 w/150hp..which weighed like 3400lbs too. I floored it, and it burnt up the tires for a good 2 seconds before traction. BTW the back end getting loose is common, your car goes into a power-slide...almost like a drift in a RWD, but not.

ya, you could get better tires. The tires that come on it are likely rather hard compound all-seasons, far from ideal for performance.

Just get a rear wheel drive

First, pull the tranny, and then put in a posi differential. Or you could weld up the spider gears. Then, put the trans back in, then put premium tires with a massive footprint, then flare the fenders to accept the tires. Oh, sorry, I got carried away. Just put some really good performance tires and learn the feel of the car.
