I am looking at a 240sx and it has an auto tranny, but the guy is offering a manual trans with it. Does any one know how hard it is to do a transmission swap on these cars?

ill talk to my bro for you he didnt do a tranny swap per-say, he has 2 240sx's and one has an SR20DET and the other has his old KA18 in it which was swapped out for a blown automatic, he said it was simple to swap the old KA out for the new one it may take me a day or two so dont run off pissed just yet...

He says its a b*tch...finding all the right parts not just the tranny but these: tranny ecu, slave cylinder, clutch pedal, etc...he said that just all the work and stress with wiring isn't worth the car he has now, not to mention the cost of getting the parts all together he could have just bout a manuel in the first place and saved the stress value...he works on Porsche's, Mercede's, and BMW's in a preformance shop called S-Car-Go so he knows his stuff and I would listen to him, full time emchanic saying not worth it lol...

Wow yeah i just started realizing yesterday that the ammount of work that it would take to acctually swap one. I at first never thought of the clutch pedel or the slave cylender. But what is this about a tranmission ecu, what is that for? Thanks for you help though much appreciated.

shit if i know lol, i work on a TF-34-100A that the A-10 Thunderbolt motor btw...I don't know much about what parts do on the cars but im sure it has something about syncing the engine with the tranny, considering the cu on it now is set up for an automatic
