there was a thread about the bosch sparkplugs..but what about the splitfire triple platinum plugs and the dual mag wire set ...some ppl claims that changing the standard spark plugs with the triple platinum and changing the wire set inc the performance and that splitfire is a trusted products company ..any 1 tried them ??/

its a bunch of BS. There is no power to be achieve in plugs and wires.
I am always amazed at the amount of money people will spend on "high end" wire sets, because they believe they have found some type of super-conductive material that they've patented.....its not true folks.
Plugs are the same thing. Beyond correct heat range, there's no power advantage between X and Y. Just longevity

well that rumor actually started from a sort of truth. old school plugs and wires werent capable of handling the upgraded MSD or Accel ignitions put in to replace points systems in muscle cars, so in those cases they actually did help. but in modern cars(read: any distributor ignition system, or coil on plug system), OEM is as good as anything, and actually better IMO because its cheaper.

Super-conductive? Hell, wires could be semi-conductive and let a better spark through. Modern plug wires (even the "high-end" ones) are RESISTOR wires, i.e the current has to travel through a few ten-thousand ohms of resistance nefore it gets to the spark plug.
You *could* run straight up copper wire, but aside from burning out your coils and plugs, your car probably wouldnt even run with the amount of EMI coming from conductor sparkplug wires.

triple edge plugs sux... just get a decent single side electrode plug... if you're lazy, platinum plugs are the way to go, since the change interval can be lengthened... just be sure you got some anti-seize on the threads...
wires, heck you can go up a mm since most oem type wire sets are already 7mm... those shiny yellow 8mm ACCEL wires can make the path of electricity a tad less, but gotta figure the cost factor to see if it's even worth the extra $$$
other than that, you're just buying the "name brand"

I replaced mine with splitfire plugs and wires and it felt like someone was kicking me in the seat of the pants when I took off.... later on I realized I had put my shoes in the drivers seat and forgot to remove them before sitting down, after removal the feeling went away.

The best spark is the most consistent spark. That is rarely achieved with multiple-electrode plugs.

hmmm....i dont want to contradict what everyone has been saying here...but my friend has a 98 mazda 323...it was his dads car before he got it recently, and something his dad did to it was get splitfire plugs and special order some oversized wires, i think 9mm? possibly 10? anyhow, he says its made a noticeable difference...the only thing i could think that could do that otherwise is that maybe he was way overdue on swapping plugs anyway? but thats totally not in character of his dad, so....i dunno...theres my

^ There's also the "placebo effect" when some people change out parts to 'performance' parts. It doesn't really add any power, but the driver thinks it does, so he/she may believe that it really does feel faster.

yes, im familiar with the possibility of psychological delusions. but case in fact, my friend is no moron, and if he said there was a difference, im sure there was. besides, my friend wasnt the one adding parts in hopes of a gain, his dad was..and if my friend felt the effects, while it was his dad who was trying to get more power out of it...id say that probably means a change DID actually happen.
while im on it, theoretically, it can make a difference. if wires can let more electricity flow through, thereby creating a more powerful explosion, it would create more horsepower. thats the same principle as nitrous oxide. much more powerful explosion resulting in more horsepower. now as far as the plugs...i dunno about the split prongs, so i wont sit here and say anything good or bad about them. but plugs CAN matter, it will depend on the material theyre made of. on the same basis of the wires, its about conductivity. copper electrode plugs will give better spark than typical run of the mill plugs. thats why higher end electronics have copper wiring...hell, theres plenty of connectors for stereo's and even car battery terminals that are gold plated, b/c gold is a magnificent conductor of electricity. however, gold has a low melting point, so the application would not work for plugs, in case someone were going to ask.
