splitfire spark plugs and wires

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

to me, that sounds like youre saying explosions are a bad thing to happen inside your cylinders....am i correct on this assumption?
A:

Yes, explosions in your cylinder is extreamly bad.
A:

listen and learn kiddo...

thats why its called the internal combustion engine. air, fuel (which is COMBUSTIBLE...word of the day for ya) and an ignition source (these are the plugs) create..what? an explosion! now, im thinking youre probably under the pretense of an explosion as BOOM, DEATH AND DESTRUCTION, FIRE BAD!....but, in a controlled situation and environment (oh, say a nice hunk of iron or high quality aluminum) its going to be retained. this is as follows in the design of the internal combustion engine...

intake- of fuel and air
compression- thats what those piston rings are partly for!
EXPLOSION- this is what creates power
exhaust- releasing the spent energy to once again restart the cycle

lemme ask you something...when you put this highly flammable fluid in your gas tank...do you think its really doing something OTHER than combusting???

now, i joined this forum b/c from what i could tell, people were courteous, respectful in their responses and corrections, and overall didnt make any trouble. cant say the same for the last forum i tried. so before you step up with your premature thoughts on how you THINK a car works, dont post. this does not flatter anyone, most of all the person doing the posting. and dont take offense to this, youre simply learning. everyone does, i didnt always know what i know. all i ask is that you take all this with a grain of salt. i got a little fierce with response b/c i ran into this on the last forum. i know my stuff, and no ones gonna tell me otherwise. if i DONT know something, im not gonna pretend i do. but simple physics will tell you that if you have a hotter ignition source, the combustible components will burn hotter and with more force. thats why there is a line of ignition kits that cost hundreds..coils, wires, plugs, distributors, rotors...thats why the technology has been upgraded, to coil packs, eliminating the distributor altogether. thats why in the early 70's the points distributor was abandoned and electronic ignition became the standard. its all here guy, just take the time to learn.

A:

oh crap, sorry guys, it seems everything all of us have learned, and the laws of physics tell us, is wrong.

Yip, thats right, metallikat has proven that we are wrong, infact the whole automotive industry and the engineering practice and threory it relys on is wrong.

And how do we know he's right and we are wrong?
Well, just look at his advanced reasoning, his great wealth of knowledge, clearly an expert in the area, I bet he's done at least 1, if not 2 years of high school science, and I bet the teacher told him he was special too.
Wow, theres just no way we can compete with that.

So come on kiddies, I guess we all just have to stop posting now, except to ask questions of metallikats clearly superior intellect.
A:

While I grovel at the feet of your wealth of knowledge and manliness, would you please explain knock to me?
A:

id gladly welcome a correction with reasoning and explanation, rather than someones asinine comments. but somehow, i dont think thats gonna happen...which only proves my point.
A:

Or, prehaps you could answer TSC's question, and explain engine knock.
A:

Give him a few minutes, he's got to google it first.
A:

I wonder if I copy and paste his answer if Ill end up with his source?

Opps, shouldn't have said that, hes going to have to rewrite the whole thing from scratch now.

A:

knocking is compression detonation of fuel (like a diesel engine..thats why they need turbo's to have any good speed) in the power stroke of the engine. knocking occurs when the airfuel mixture ignites, before the spark from the spark plug can reach it. The explosive reaction causes combustion to stop before the right timing, which decreases performance, and thats why its bad.

your turn.

A:

i dont need to google anything, im not spending all m time here. im only here to give and receive answers..unlike two pricks on here who seem to find great joy in starting flame wars.
A:

So there you go, an explosion in the combustion chamber is a bad thing.

A:

if its caused by pre-detonation due to compression and not the proper ignition source, you fucking moron. and its not necessarily bad except for the fact that it can cause unecessary wear on certain components in the engine, and as was said..decrease performance.

so, are you going to correct me where im oh so terribly wrong?? but i know youre not, b/c youre just some assclown who knows nothing except trying to belittle people. well, the problem here is that you've tried to do that with someone who isnt an idiot. if the next post or two is more of your intellectually devoid comments, im not going to even bother posting on this thread anymore, b/c youll have made it clear my point rings true. grow the hell up and for gods sake get a life.

A:

Oh dear.

All the answers to your questions, and reasons for why they are wrong can be found in this and other threads.

There is no need for you to spread your false reasoning, and very basic understanding around, all it does is make you look stupid.

However, its not as stupid as calling a Moderator a Fucking Moron.
I have fucked many things, but a Moron is not one of them (except that slightly odd looking girl from... never mind).

So Im going to let you aplogise and retact your statements.
If you don't you will be banned.
A:

tell you what...i WONT apologize for what i know to be the truth, and if you feel compelled to dispose of someone everytime they refuse to back down from the truth, you do that you coward. theres a million forums on the internet and i certainly dont need any bullshit, especially from a supposed moderator...how the hell did YOU become a moderator?? you dont seem to know jack shit. screw it...do what you want, i really dont care. my life will go on just fine.
