A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Whats the highest miles anyones ever seen a car achieve with the original engine? I once heard of a '81 Celica with like 840,000 miles with the original engine/trans! Anyone else ever have/see a car with outragously high miles?
A:
Mercedes held the record a few years back. They ran commercials featuring the car. I think it had 1,500,000+ on it.

The ford falcon taxis get a about 750,000km on the first engine, they have a straight six 4.0L.

There's a guy with Volvo that has logged well over 2,000,000 miles, but it's had a rebuild somewhere along the line. Still, some of those components have gone more miles than most of us will.
A:
I heard about that one, it was a Volvo P1800, not a remarkable car by any means.
In Montreal, a taxi driver was using a 1963 Plymouth Fury since new as a taxi. He was only a couple of thousand miles away from beating the Mercedes record when it was totalled in a crash.
Personally, any car that can avoid being totalled in a crash in its lifetime is capable of record mileage. Theoretically any car can be kept going indefinitely by replacing parts.
Personally I had a '91 Chevy S-10 with 411,000 km. It ran great.

A guy in South Carolina put 1,000,000 miles on his Chevy Silverado C1500 in only 5 years on a single engine. He had to change the oil every 4 days, but when they tore the engine apart when he sold it to Pennzoil (the oil that he used religiously) they said that everything looked like it would on most cars with 40-50k on them. He also only had to replace the auto trans once in that time.
A:
i know of a saturn with over 400,000. i think he had the clutch replaced once.
keep in mind desiel engines in semi truck go on average 700,000 miles before a overhaul
A:
If we're talking about sub-500k, I know of several. There is a Chevy Blazer running around that has been using the same oil for over 300k. This is high quality synthetic with bypass oil filtration, however. With this technology, the Blazer will continue running indefinitely with practically no wear.

We sold an 83 Chevy Celebrity with 100k and I talked to the new owner a few years later with 230k. Whoda thunk it?
86 Ford F250 with a 6.9 owned by my uncle has 400k. Its never had so much as the valve covers off, but its on its third injector pump and I think its second set of injectors.
We were talking just last night about this and a friend of the family had a Suburban with over 450k on it, but it was its third engine.
