A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Not sure if this has been asked. If so, sorry. I basically need a brief list of some Japanese cars that are good to turbo, on the stock internals. Im talking about newer cars, like 99+. I'm saving for a new car possibly next summer and I have neither the money(for rebuild) or any other method of transportation besides one car. I plan to just buy a pre made turbo kit with low boost as well as a couple other bolt ons. For example I know that Supra's, and 350 Z's are pretty good for boost. I like the newer (02+) Maxima but I have no idea about their acceptance to boost. Thanks.

wow........well....you cant 'just have enough money for a kit and one car'. many people before you, including me have learned that S*** ALWAYS F*** UP WITH AN AFTERMARKET TURBO KIT. It doesn't matter the car they put it on. That 350z you say is so good to turbo....yah, well...that's a $35k car, do you think the maker of that kit was like...ok for 2 grand here you go. nooooo, there was some real thought put into every aspect, engine management, fuel delivery. All that adds up, which is why it would be very very easy to drop $ 7k - $10k on a turbo kit for that car.
Take a honda, there are kits for less than $2500, sure your car will be quick for a little while, but that motherf***er will break, and then you'll need that rebuild you said you can't afford!
All in all, i'm just saying....it's not really the car that cant take it, since any n/a car is going to be a bad platform to boost on, it's mainly the quality of your parts and how well you can get the engine management tuned. Just remember these cars making impressive power with stock internals usually all have 1 thing in common...some sort of programmable engine management. And that = not cheap

First, let's put this thread where it should be... in the Forced Induction forum.
Second, this topic is very currently being discussed in that forum, so once you're over there do a search.
Third, 2turboimports, be nice and offer constructive advice instead of sarcasm...and don't swear in my forums or I'll slap you across the head with a dead Civic.

heh...sorry man, it's a touchy subject for me. If it takes a little harshness to help someone not know the pain of breaking their car, then its worth it maybe.

I can dig it

this has been said time and time again:

Just buy a boosted car, that'd save you a lot of hassle.............my
