A&Q about 350Z
Q:
My friend and I are having a little argument here on which car will win in short drag. I'm trying to convince him that the 5.7L HEMI 300C will win, he's saying the DOHC V6 non-turbo 3000GT will win.
You be the judge.
A:
this is hardly the place for this comparison...but I'd give it to the hemi....
A:
take the american muscle over the underengineered, slow, easily breakeable, slow, garbage mitsu that is slow. and i am a lover of (rear drive) imports but I would take almost anything over a 3kgt especially if it is non turbo-awd and especially if the opponent is a high hp muscle car (if you can call it that).
A:
i love it when people feel that they should share their ignorance with the world. it only ends up making them look like a fool in the long run...
as for the thread...i would have to give it to the 300C, stock for stock. not because the 3000GT is "underengineered, slow, easily breakeable, slow, garbage mitsu"..........but more or less because it isn't as quick in the 1/4 mile as the 300C.
A:
Id give it to the 300C in a short drag...Hemi power and merc tranny, its relatively quick...
and the 3kgt sl isn't fantastic, but its not the pile of rubble that you make it out to mt
A:
The 300C will blow it's doors off, with four people in the car, and their luggage.
A:
300C would take it, the sl is a tank, the VR4 though? Different story.
A:
Speaking of ignorance, my friend's like, "How come 3000GT's smoke civics and 300C's dont?" I asked him if he seriously thinks a civic can outrun a V8 powered monster. His reply: "The V-TEC can." Now he thinks a 3000GT SL can run high 4's in the 0-60? If so, then I suppose the same car with twin breathers can match, if not beat, a 600HP Murcielago. I'm like, "Dude, that car's lucky if it can break into the 7 second zone." He's like "How do you know all of this? You've never drove a 300C or a 3000GT." Hehe, neither have I drove a Ferrari, but whatever.
I've proven my point a million times via websites, 5 different forums, facts and whatnot, but he still thinks his 3000GT is faster. It's out of my league convincing a guy THIS conceited. He'll have to learn the hard way; he's getting his 3000GT SL today.
A:
give it to the C!
A:
This is no more a race than there is a race between a cheetah and a sea turtle. The 3000GT is way, WAY too heavy, considering that it is a two-door, front-wheel-drive Japanese sports coupe. It needs the VR-4's turbo engine and all-wheel-drive technology to have any sort of speed.
A:
the only logic i can bring to the table is that maybe he is thinking of the touring model? but then again...he thinks that the SL is high 4's 0-60mph which would place it faster than its higher performance counter-part, VR4. to each his own...
by no means is the SL slow for what it is...but one will have to remember....what it is.
A:
Well to my personal experience and knowledge with an SL, it sure did like to burn oil. Its not a bad car, nor would I call it good. Just think of it as an average heavy fwd sports car? Now I can't say much better for the 300c. Its not my cup of tea. At least their rwd (or awd) and have 340hp
Verdict goes to the 300c....easily.
A:
Nyet. I asked, he confirmed. He was comparing it with the 5.7L V8 HEMI, all 340 ponies. He thinks a 4000LB sedan simply CAN'T be fast, even with an engine like that. 800LB's lighter, FWD, 120 less horsepower = a much much MUCH faster car for damn sure.
Anyway, it's done. I'm through arguing, even though he's not convinced.
A:
well, all he has to do is take a looka t some 1/4 mile specs. the 300C puts down low 14's and the 3000GT SL puts down low 15's. not to mention that the 300C will probably be running at tip top condition being it is brand new.
A:
this not even close.......the 300C would lay down some pwnage....and then go to the country club for golf afterwards....and still beat the 3000gt...hehe (sarcasm)...
