A&Q about 350Z
Q:
or do I have a leak somewhere? I dont think I have a leak, but what would cause coolant to drain faster than it used to? This morning the coolant level was full, took it for about a 2 hour drive with A/C on and afterwards, the coolant level was below the below line
does turning the A/C on drain coolant that fast? or does the temperature outside matter too? it was about 90+ degrees outside that day
A:
coolant shouldnt really drain, ever... you have a leak somewhere.
A:
Compare coolant levels when the engine is cold only. Warm engines usually push coolant out into the bottle.
As posted above engines normally do not consume or use coolant. The coolant level should remain constant week after week. There will be some loss to evaporation but it takes weeks to months for this loss to be noticable.
If its not leaking the engine might be burning coolant, either through a bad gasket or a cracked head.
