A&Q about 350Z
Q:
on skid pad measumeants how do they get the ratings...it seems like 1.0 g. is good but wat does that mean...thx for any hlep
A:
dunno if this is much of a help, but there is all kinds of vehicle physics stuff on this site too.
A:
The skid pad measures the maximum cornering forces the car can generate. Alone it is not a good measure of how well a car handles, but it does indicate maximum corning capacity and the amount of under/over/natural steer the car exhibits at its limits.
A:
Yes, this is referent to the amount of cornering force a car can generate. But how it is rated is in G's and displays how much lateral force can be put on the car in a turn. Your example was 1.0 g. A car that exhibits 1.0 g on the skid pad is taking 1 times its one body weight in lateral force. A car that exhibits 3.0 g's can maintain grip while 3 times its own body weight is exerted laterally through the car.
