Dont you just love VW...

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I dont know what it is, but im really happy not allways driving one, even just owning a dub.
I know my cars not perfect, But its really satisfying to see it sitting there every morning.
Am i a freak? Am i wierd? Im hoping other people can vouch for me on this, as i cant quite explain my obsession!!!
A:

No not at all. We are all the same. Do you have the "LBF" as it was once described years ago on here?
Look Back Factor - When you walk away from the car, you give a quick turn and glance at the car in its parked position.
A:

I went to the cinema last night and we was sat down having a drink before it started....the bar overlooks the carpark and I thought I'd check to make sure there was no thieving scum sniffing round my car...the missus looked at me and said - "Ahh, bless. You checking on your car?..." Me -
I do it all the time though. I must admit I get strange looks off people doing this and quite often people ask if there's something wrong with it because I keep looking at it
A:

Yeah thats it!!! LBF - I do that daily.
Ive also got to the stage that as she's been off the road for a while, whenever I walk past, I run my hands down her to feel her sexy curves!!!
A:

i get the LBF with most cars i have owned, generally to check if the lights are off
but in all honesty i have driven brand new cars (all be them rice Civic Type R as an example) and i feel i get a better ride, less road noise, easier gear change, better response, better economy and no depreciation out of my 15 yr old 152k 8v mk2.....
these cars were made to outlive anyting else on the road! shame most new things cant live up to my expectations

I used to do this all the time aswell.
I even used to make sure i parked my car outside the window i work near so that i can catch a glimpse of that gorgeous back end...
A:

just to add i usually park in the middle of two bays at the supermarket or if there i an end spac available right up against the curb

I do this,
A:

i do all of the above. sometimes on dark cold nights i even pop into the garage just to check she is ok.
i always try to park away from any other cars when i go to the supermarket to ensure some dickhead doesn't dent the car!
by the way it isn't sad to be a veedub nut, my other cars a vw passat 1.8t sport.
i am very brand loyal.
A:

I normally buy 2-3 dubs in a row, then buy something different (BMW,Honda,Saab,Rover) and quickly find out that the other cars just aren't "Dub". (And just a little bit sh*t)
And so the cycle continues...
A:

you know when you park it miles away from any other car so the general driving public cant dent or scratch your baby and when you get back some dick has parked next to you Well 10 out of 10 times its a woman, and before you say sexist bar steward its true my wife did a defence course and they tell you to park near other cars so there is a good chance that some one will be around i asked her to tell the instructor to make sure that they dont park next a dub
A:

(prepares to be ridiculed)....this is the way i feel about my mr2, can't get excited about vw's i'm afraid...the mr2 is an 'event' everytime you drive it.

Oh my god, you have described in perfect terms!
I never knew i did that until you just mention it!
I always look back at it!
I have vag coursing through my veins too!
A:

i drive every car on the market in my job and you just carn't beat the vag group
A:

Nought to do with the fact its a VW of course.
Jes, if I owned a mk5 Golf base model i'd walk away from it thinking 'thank god its a company car', lol
but hell yeah. The LBF is so true!

I know what you mean mate, I can still remember getting behind the wheel of my first Dub and grinning from ear to ear.
I left the fold when the Mk4 golf came out, it was a sad day as I was hoping they were going to rectify the mistake that was the Mk3 (No disrespect intended to Mk3 owners just a personal view).
Anyhow I have owned several cars (brands) since and not one of them has had the soul of my beautiful VW's.
However the Mk5 has wetted the appetite sufficiently and I'm looking for excuses to get one asap

Why's that? The mister2 is pants unless its an import.
A:

LBF, I like that, have it to, of 6 cars I've owned in my life the only non vw was a Seat and even that just wasn't the same, theres just something about dubs.
A:

I love how solid the car feels! Even being 16 years old and on stiffer springs it hardly rattles. And i have to say one of the most satisfying noises is the proper clunk you get when you close the doors. Unlike my friends astra that sound like hollow tin doors, like theyre about to fall off even with the softest of slams.
Ive never owned anything apart from vw's, and honestly cant see myself straying either...

Am curious as to why you say that?
A:

Every car i have ever owned is just a car, a method of getting me from A to B, except the dubs, when i have a dub I'll find any excuse for there to be a B, and the further away it is, the better. IThrough every dub i have owned, i can't remember EVER driving one without smiling at some point during the journey.

And boy do i know what you mean...
I picked my first dub up from scotland, and while everyone told me id dread the drive back, I enjoyed every minute of the 370-odd miles. Honestly, ever since that day ive been hooked...
A:

Last weekend, I drove over to a mate's house in my mk2. He wasn't in. So I went for a drive.
I ended up driving down the A303, past Stonehenge, past Salisbury and bombed around the country roads down there for a bit before coming home.
I live in Guildford. This isn't the first time I've done that.
A:

I always try to sit in a pub/ restauant/ etc so I can see my car.
SAD!
