A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Yeah thats it!!! LBF - I do that daily.
Ive also got to the stage that as she's been off the road for a while, whenever I walk past, I run my hands down her to feel her sexy curves!!!
I've been taking a pish in my Mk1 every evening for a few weeks now, I dont have any water or a working bog so after a few drinks it gets treated like a pub urinal as its near the back door. My Mk2 I have been using as a step ladder while working on the front of the house, footprints all over the roof and bonnet.... still love them though and dead proud despite all the rust and dents.
A:
i hate leaving it parked out of sight of my house, i like to be able to stick my head out the door to check its ok. i think this is my 7th dub...i`m just not sure what to buy next. i fancy a corrado vr6, just not sure how it`ll compare to my highly chuckable scirocco...

The raddo isn't reputed to be the best handling front wheel drives of all for no reason matey
A:
yeah fair enough, though really i quite fancy some rwd or 4wd action, and the money you pay for a really good condition corrado will get a proper rally attack weapon. plus i think i`d feel a bit guilty thrashing the hell out of a corrado down the sort of roads i like...
A:
i always leave my mk3 where i can c her, i used to wax herinside out every sat when i was using her as a daily driver ,always parking in safe places where no 1 can harm her.... now i get her out of the garge only on nice sunny days..... i usually love to sit beside stairing at her or just go around and try to imagine what could be d next mod... till now pritty std but as soon as i finish my apretceship ill get the project moving....
well vdubs just make u love them dont u agree
A:
i must admit, i don`t wash and care for mine as often as i should and since i`ve been building my new engine, i haven`t even thought of servicing the lump thats in it, think i may have to tho, its started to tick a little bit, oil must be low
once the new lump is in tho....(evil cackle)...
A:
Am curious as to why you say that?
I think i may have to apologise, But im not sure yet...
Did they ever do a UK spec MR2 with a turbo?
no...turbo's are import only.....but believe me the non-turbo is a nice car to drive

no im fairly certain turbos were all imports, series 2 MR2 arent all that good, i can see where Andrew is coming from refering to a mk1 MR2 those are classics!!!!!!!
they are the original rear wheel drive mid engine fun affordable sports cars !
A:
Any of you driven the mk3?
Utterly brilliant handling, just needs a bit more poke.
Drove all over Dartmoor in one and had a lot of fun.
As for the VWs - I loved all mine but so did thieves so I went for a low profile Vauxhall!

Shoulda gone for a .22 rifle instead, TBH.

True... wouldnt be worth crossing over to vauxhall for anything!
A:
vauxhall = cracking engine....however they have a habit of making their chassis' from cheese, and i`ve noticed upon a few occasions that cheese isn`t a good thing to make a chassis from. probably something to do with the way it gets squidgy when hot? and vauxhalls are really squidgy.....kind of like camenbert.

Has anyone else ever wondered why our VWs are so much better than "ordinary" cars?
Is it the build quality or isit more down to the way we look after them?
If it is just the way they are made then there should be just as many twenty year old Golf 1.3CLs on the road as there are GTIs & Drivers, but there aren't. Could this be due to the fact that the sportier model are usually owned by enthusiasts who look after them better than the owners of the ordinary models?
However if it is only down to enthusiastic owners why are there hardly any mid eighties XR3is, Astra GTEs & MG Maestro Turbos left running?

soz...i can't agree with you about series 2, i love mine...but i get your point about mk1's
mk3's are supposed to be seriously tail happy, haven't driven one myself yet
A:
I meant mk3 MR2s BTW.
They haven't really got enough power to be tail happy but they handle SO well - We are talking Elise standards of chassis response and steering feel - Hence they are a 5 star EVO car.
Sad sad uninformed comments about Vauxhalls - Grow up children.
The fact is, pre mk5, the Astra was a bunch of ar5e.
Then suddenly, they learned how to make a good car which handles better than any new Audi and VW (bar the mk5 GTi Golf and RS4), is properly made (no squeaks in the Astra, lots in the R32 I had), and goes rather well (compared to direct competition).
I've had m2,3,4 Golfs and a Passat so am quite familiar with VWs.
So don't be silly all - The m1,2,3 and 5 Golf are fine cars. The mk4 was pretty poor (R32 excepted). VW got it right then went backwards, then caught up again (after nicking the Ford Focus chassis engineer)
Poxhall took a long time to get it right but finally got there.

It seems to me there are loads of 1.3 and 1.6 Mk2s about, lots of them in good nick too, they are designed to last and are well built.
E.G. we had an E reg escort in very good condition, 1 owner 50K serivce history the whole bit. We also had a very decent 2 owner 87 8v Mk2 Gti with 70K. We treated them in the same way except the GTI got a pasting as it was mine and the escort was hers. Both were washed in the same stuff at the same times, serviced with decent stuff etc. the escort rusted out in a couple of years, long before the golf was cut up for a project. I've had Astras and Meastros (from nearly new) and they were about as bad as the escort, the one thing you lot wont believe is that my Renault 5s were less prone to rust than most....
I do take your point that the GTIs may be owned by enthusiasts and treated well as a result.

my gte was so bad the sill trims fell off and the n/s chassis leg came away - hence its disposal to heaven - yet to see a mk2 - that hasn`t been salt water flooded in the same condition
A:
Yes I can see that the way VWs are built plays a large part but I am convinced that the fact we love 'em so much is what keeps them going for so long. Another factor is the value of the car, using my '86 8v as an example, I wouldn't hesitate in spending say £200 on keeping it going, BUT is that because I think it's the dog's b****cks OR is it because I know it's worth at least three times that amount if I wanted to sell it. The same scenario with an '86 Golf 1.3l things might be different.

its a long term addiction for me since 1995 when i bought my first gti a mk1 1600 5 speed resprayed in metalic grey i was 18!!! it was lowered on spax springs boge dampers smoothed tailgate and arial hole i bought it off my mates brother and fitted a k&n air filter, mintex pads, a dtm scorpian system it was mint. it had a cam in it and went so well. i learnt so much about driving in that car. it started a long term love afair with the mk1
now nearly 12 years later and 12 different volkswagens im still in love.
I even finished with my long term partner over a silver campaign. i wanted to restore it, she wanted to scrap it! well one of them had to go if you look at my current sig you can see which one went and yes i made the right choice dont she look good
well ive just bought another this week a jetta. last weekend i went down to hampshire to pick up a 2ltr 16v 6a lump!!!! and have enough spare parts to build another nearly.
are there any VA meetings or help groups i can go to
