Running a Mk1 Cabrio as a daily driver

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Does anyone here use their Mk1 cabrio daily?
What are they like to live with, especially during the winter.
A:

Mine usually comes off the road for the winter but I did use it right through one year.
Winter isn't particularly a problem. It's just a Mk1 Golf.
The issues are general 'roof up' issues rather than winter. Adjustment of the door glass is critical to ensure that they seal well (but are not so tight they shatter) and I have a problem with the front seal above the windscreen to the hood breaking at about 80mph and above. I do go everywhere at above 80mph and the whistling from this is a real pain with the roof up. My car had a new roof cover fitted before I bought it and I don't know whether it's a problem with my car or typical of them all at this speed.
Otherwise fab!

Drive mine every day. Heater is awesome so no winter issues.Roof noise at high speed is a bit irritating along with other squeaks and creaks. But I am comparing it to my Audi so a bit unfair.
More fun to dirve than I thought it would be and still catches a few people out down the lanes on the way to work.
Mine had a roof fitted as well prior to me getting it, although I can see the top seal is a bit perished. Nothing to worry about, all is forgotten when the sun comes out!

I use mine everyday and have no probs. Just make sure all the rubbers and roof are in good nik if you take it through the winter. They are blessed with amazing heaters, so topless driving on a crisp winter morning is ace
Mexicorich: You may need to adjust your roof clamps a little if your roof is lifting, or maybe the header seal needs replacing, they tend to go a bit flat after all those years.

I use mine almost every day through summer and winter and it lives outside at the moment. No issues with me yet and I've been running it for 11 months. The roofs not great but it doesn't leak and it doesn't whistle above 80. There is a bit of wind noise though as would be expected in an old cabby.
A:

use mine summer and winter, head lights are a bit crap, and its kin scary at 140 plus

So not everyone has a problem above 80mph then?
My clamps aready seem pretty darn tight so I daren't tighten them anymore
My 8V won't quite hit 140 (even though it's a Kjet!) but with relays on all the lights i think they are pretty Ok with the addition of the inner spots. Surprisingly better than some modern stuff I have driven and drastically better than my latest Ibiza TDi

Thanks for all the replies. I went to look at one today, a 92 clipper. How much road noise should there be at 70ish mph? This one was quite loud, had to raise my voice to heard when talking to the person next to me.
