A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Ive just been looking at valvers on ebay, and theyre must be over a dozen mk2's on there in oak green all claiming to be a 'RARE COLOUR'
Whats the crack with this? Surely its not rare if you've a choice of over ten to choose from at any one time, from just one online marketplace.
A:
I wouldn't say it was that rare, in fact if my memory serves me well colours like Royal Blue are rarer as they were a 1990 onwards colour, whereas Croak Green was available as early as 1988 on Mk2 Campaigns. As far as numbers produced of different colours go, I'm not sure what is rare and what isn't, would be interesting to see some official figures.
I'll tell you what is a rare colour though - Tornado Red.
Reason it's rare is that 99% of them are now Tornado Pink

I see what your saying...
Would this in the link below be a rare colour then.
A:
Ive never claimed Oak Green to be rare, in fact, id riducule anyone that says they are. However, there is no denying that its a desireable colour.
Rarest Mk2 16v colour? Black-Blue (Schwarzblau).

A:
As Deako says, desireable, not rare.
Think the one in the link is Royal blue?
A:
Ohh ok... Thanks for the info. I just wanted to clear that up.
does anyone know the colour of the Edition One's? I love that colour, did they ever do it on a valver?
A:
Edition One's come in various colours, black, aubergine, and some others, a G60 expert will no doubt be along soon to confirm..
A:
ahh ok.
I think its the aubergine colour im on about. It looks black until you get a certain light on it, then you see the purple.
A:
yeah the one in the link in black/blue. The same as the one i lamposted. Its a nice colour :) And as richard said, the colour your probably on about for ED1s is aubergine
A:
is this the beginning of a backlash against all those who claim ultra rare oak green LOL
One thing you forget is that EVERYTHING on ebay is rare............

That must be what it is then... Just people making stuff sound better than it is...
David number 2, Does the car in the pic have the same paint as yours?
A:
On the subject of colour is this definately monza blue.
A:
Yes it is.
A:
Thanks.
Ive decided, that has to be one of the nicest colours VW have done.
A:
you'll not see many 90 spec diamond silver mk2's i tell thee
dont think ive ever seen a 90 spec diamond silver valver (mines '89)
A:
Dont think the colour was available on the 16v. Ive seen 90 spec Diamond Silver 8vs though.
A:
Diamond silver is nice.
Is there a definitive guide as to what colours where produced in what years and models?
A:
I have an oak green dub and I don't think its rare. I would say it's a great colour though, one of my favourites along with Atlas Grey and Helios Blue.
The good thing about Oak Green is that it's quite dark and can hide the odd blemish very well. But I do agree it's a bit of a joke saying rare all the time, when quite blatantly they are not.
