A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Guys, took a brand new passat 2.0tdi out today from the work pool. loved it.
I can see why some of you guys rave about them now, so much torque and tbh it really didn't sound that tractory.
looking for a bora or a slightly older passat now, i need diseasel!
and the cup holders in the centre console are just rad, gota love things that click out when you push a button.
A:
go see a doctor, there is something seriously wrong with you.
or you are old?
A:
I was out in the new BMW 335 (?) turbodiesel convertible today, supposedly one of the best engines in the world EVER EVER EVER, and even better than the M3.
Fast, yes, but exciting? No. It's still a diesel and still feels like one despite all the press bollox about how you'd never know it was a rattler, blah blah blah.
Only advantage of a diesel IMO is that you can run it on the jungle juice and save a fortune. Which wouldn't really be a factor I suppose, if you're going to drop that sort of money on a tractor-engined tart's car.

hope youre not expect the older cars to be as refined as newer 2.0tdi cars...

diesel - convertible - diesel - convertible - diesel - convertible - diesel - convertible - diesel - convertible - diesel - convertible
no, still not getting it....
A:
if you mean those Diesel Eos's they are just wrong in concept & sound wrong at idle....
those 2L 16Valve turbo diesels are very nice drives, the torque is amazing out of these enigines
I had the pleasure drive a stripped out version of your car pimpin gimp , it was certainly even more fun

A:

My boss has one the same, super high spec, DSG, tints, 18"s, electric rear blind, biscuit leather etc, lovely car but still not as fast as mine

looking at a few years old passats, sort of 51 plate and on i guess. 1.9tdi. is the engine vastly different?
A:
New 2.0TDI is 140bhp, older 1.9TDI came in 130 and 150bhp form.
Newer one more refined but older one is quicker.
I needed an extra 10bhp so went for the CDTi150 engine in the Ashtray.
Happily sees off any 2.0TDI engined VAG car AND really upsets people too...
A:
I like diesels, the 1.9 A4 we have is nearly free to run and is just fantastic for covering ground quickly. Not so handy on the b roads though, it is still a B5 afterall...
We had an '05 3.0 TDI quattro with all the S-Line kit recently, incredible torque and performance, plus you could use it all in the wet. Covered 40-50k in about a year at over 40mpg. (got dealt in for a new TT though!)
A:
2.0 TDi drives very differently to the older 130 and 150 8v's
Mine is ok, but doesnt have as much poke as my old bora 150, or even the golf 130 i had. Plus point are it revs better, and doesnt sound like its going to explode over 4k like the 130/150
Is quieter though, and doesnt smoke as much - neither of which bother me anyway - O and i got much better mileage in the 150.

Tommy : whats the mk5 like

I like it alot. I must admit i wasnt to keen at first, but it is great as a mile muncher, and surprisingly can be a little fun at times.
Theres alot of daft little things that all add up to make it quite alot of car. Auto lights and wipers are good, seem more intelligent than the mk4 ones. I've had it 9 months and done 35k with no issues.
The only thing its missing is the PD150 really, The 2l isnt bad, but its not quite as good as an allrounder imo.

chhhrist!
you must be a rep surely?!!
A:
Nah, just 140 mile round trip from work, and get about a bit.. I live in kent, family live in dorset etc - all adds up!
It is quite funny when you take a 9 month old car back to vw for its 4 year service. Makes me chuckle anyway. hehehe.
Thats a good point i missed out actually - the longlife service is good, every 17.5k or 2 years. needs oil topiing up every 5-6k or so but other than that the servicing is all its needed.

cool, which part
dont recognise car from dorset meets
A:
Dont knock them diesel's I've gone from GTi - VR6 - TDI and I love my Mk4 150 revo'd TDI.
190bhp and 280lb/ft torque - you cant knock it oh & plus 40+ mpg.
No i dont like it on tick over its sounds like a tractor but once its going its a dream to drive!
