Buying a non runner, and ringing the AA to collect it and get me home, saying it had broken down?

Ive looked into getting it collected and im looking at at least £150. I could do with that for christmas!

make sure the car has tax or they will tell you to frick off when the AA man turns up to recover you!

or will it be recovered to nearest garage?

If you are a member go for it, but if not join about a week before you get the car picked up. I think they have some sort of rule about recovery of cars with new members.
And make sure its taxed.

the policy covers me to take the car to my house and not to the nearest garage. how comes i need the car to be taxed? its got no T+T

I take it the tax disc is for legal reasons? what would happen if i pinched the disc from my other mk2 just for the day, and IF the recovery bloke spots its got the wrong reg on it, I could plead innocence, and say i must have bought it like that.

On the form they fill in for the recovery of the car, there's a section they tick for a tax disc. So if they're doing their job then they'd spot it and suss exactly what you're trying to do - which is fraudulent.

Any joy with the two golfs you asked are opinion the other day? As above they check whether the car is taxed or not. What are the symtoms for this car not being a runner?are you going to get them to try and repair it for you too
