Have you ever driven a remapped TDI? Mine is still pulling hard when it hits the limiter at 5.5k!
I won't argue with the tractor sound or black smoke though

i get round the noise by turning the stereo up!
and the smoke, with a hearty helping of derv detergent!

I like the idea of a standard TDI for work runs, but when you spend money to get them sort of performance figures. The MPG drop and diesel is more then petrol. So think why not just have a petrol that dont sound like a tractor and lose the cheapskate image.
