A&Q about 350Z
Q:

So today I:
Payed off my Datsun with some new-found money.
Took out another loan.
...and bought a 1974 Corvette Stingray.
This car has a 350, Automatic Transmission, T-Tops, new tires, and it has 78,000 original miles. There are a couple cracks on the spoiler (which is going to take a hike for something a little smaller) and on the nose. The actual fiberglass body is crackless and the frame isn't rusty. Really all it needs is a paint job.
Is it safe to use 87 octane gasoline with an 8.5:1 Compression Ratio?
Anyone know where the fuse box is? How about how to raise the headlights?
Some pics:
Inspecting the T-Tops
Here it is!
Look, the Z has a friend to play with!
Ass ends, coming through!
Have a gander at that powerplant!
...not bad for $6500.00.

yeah there is a knob under the dash on the left of the steering wheel. If I remember right you have to have the car runnin..then use that switch....if that doesnt work you got some bad actuators or vacuum problems etc.
You might look up underneath the dash on the drivers side for the fuses...it's been a long time..

You're going to have fun with that engine compartment. And finding pneumatic pressure to raise the headlights without fiddling with knobs under the dash ...
There are tons of parts sources and how-to books out there.
I hope the interior is usable.
Good luck.

I love C3s. My uncle had a really nice dark red '74 Corvette with a 4-speed and a 454. That thing was awesome and it had some tasteful mods done to it as well. Too bad he sold it to buy an old Challenger. :(
They're terrible cars, of course. The suspension is primitive and harsh, the engines are wheezy, and it has a tiny interior but a huge exterior. Good thing there's an extensive aftermarket for it!

Would it be fair to say the S30's have better suspension then the C3?
Nice 'vette.

A:

Yes. Not mine though, my suspension in my Z is pretty ragged.

Save up for some gold chains to wear with it...and grow a mullet.
Rusty but running.
Polish cell phone and two tubes of Aluma-seal.
And, now we are historic.

There are some "big-simple" vacuum hoses that raise the headlights! Maybe they have a crack? Just responding to another post... Norm K

Ummm thats not a powerplant under the hood as commented above. Its a low compression very low horspower 350. It would run just fine with 80 octane gas...LOL

A:

It is a powerplant compared to all of the other chevrolets I have driven.
