Jump started a newer Cadillac

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Just got back from the post office after mailing some stuff and a guy in a 2004 Cadillac was sittin beside the road with his hood up. Said his battery was dead...I cleaned his "rinky dink" side post battery terminals..just little bitty bolts that hold those cables on and gave him a jump...his fancy alloy wheels were all black from brake dust and looked like his brade pads were about history...told him he better check them out before too long...he tried to pay me 20 bucks but I declined...it was payback for all the people that have gave me a jump or ride or whatever in the past and also I took a little perverted satisfaction from jumping a 50 thousand dollar car with my old Z...lol

Jump started an old van once. I was kind of afraid for my life because the people were kind of weird, but the point was I got them back on the road.

I usually decline jump starting other peoples cars (newer, expensive ones specifically) because I have seen some weird things happen with electronics...always make sure they understand that you aren't liable for any damage done.

I generally try and stop for someone with a hood up if I have the time to. All else, they might need to borrow my cell phone to call a tow truck or something. Nice job kcathometaz

usually on those gm cars with those rinky dink side posts, they have terminals somewhere in the engine bay that you can attach the jumper cables to. At least I think. It is a stupid design though , I think gm is the only one who used batteries like that.

Sadly most of the time GM side post battery's corrode under the terminal ends on the cables, and litterally fuse the cable to the batter terminal with corrossion. Makes it a bitch to take it apart to separate them. It usually pulls the terminal out of the battery. It sucks.

When I was a young lad I would stop to help those that had been stranded. It was possible to polish a burnt set of points, bypass a clogged fuel filter, or use a pair of panty hose to replace a belt. In these days of black boxes and predators on the road I just say a little prayer and continue on my way.

Agreed, your not like what the average Samaritan does.
