unfortunately that is the wrong valve cover for the year of the car....
Should have the run of the mill "Nissan OHC" for that late a model---though that cover is the one I should have on my Fairlady S/N S30-02225..........
What is the VIN on that one? Looks like it may be a later model than my 75 (GS30) is it a GS31 VIN By chance? (meaning 76-77).
With a built L26, that car should be a screamer compared to US Spec vehicles---much less weight, and far better gearing.
What Federalization stuff was tacked on? I removed most of what they did for federalization, it's all crapola anyway...

Wow! Cool find.

With the factory five speed, a ZS model would have either a 3.9 or 4.11 with A/C
With the ZL model, including the power windows, then you would have either the 4.11 or a 4.37 with A/C (which it looks like you have.
So chances are good it already has a 4.11 or a 4.37 gearset out back.
If it's a GS30, then it's likely a 75 or early 76. The 74 would be carburetted, I can't tell from the photos what was ther eoriginally, nor what was going on with the doors, so it's hard to determine what was what.
I have a 75/76 EFI car, and know the VIN from that. E-Mail me off forum with more details on the VIN and I can compare to mine, as well as with some lists I have made over the years and try to nail down the production year/date.
It probably doesn't make a difference in MS, but in some states what the production date is will determine what kind of system it needs to pass emissions.
Is there a sticker in the driver's door giving federalization details?
My ZS model weighed something like 2965# with ME in it, meaning the car with a full tank of gas, fully dressed weighs 2600# or thereabouts.
Not bad for a late model car with full EFI setup!

Very nice looking car. Early model Z must have been easier to import. Ive got a 81 Fairlady sitting in my storage unit it came with a 3.0L stroker motor in it and a clean title.
Currently parting out 1990 300zx TT.
A:
ok, i checked.. no signs of efi.. no harness ecu.. hole in firewall etc.. and the aircond is a afternmarket item... no rear de fog.. no power windows.. the 5 speed could be american for all i know.. the driver door is stuck, otherwise i would just look at the year
oh yeah, why is it that every fairlady z i see that is '74 or newer is a 2+2?

With no defroster, then chances are good it's a ZS model, so it will have at least a 3.9, if not a 4.11.
And the carburetted models were slightly lighter than the EFI model I have, so a good estimate would be 2600#. If you have the plastic mats like I do, and not some aftermarket carpet, or retrofitted carpet from Nissan.
Have you looked under the back of the car, to determine if it's an EFI tank or not?
I'm really interested in what you VIN is now, as that will give me a breakpoint on carburetted and EFI cars in the GS30 chassis.
