2006 Ural Gear Up
Russian copy of the German BMW R75. It's pretty much a 60 year old design with some modern refinements. And yeah it's a pretty comfortable bike. Unlike most sidecar setups this has engageable 2wd that powers the sidecar wheel.

Yeah I was going to say it looks a lot like a bike in the Indiana Jones movie the Last Crusade... side car and ALL. I can only depict the disc brake upgrade, what else got refined? Looks to have an alternator as well.
Looks pretty cool. Seeing any trail use in it's future? Obviously with side car detached...

Awesome! Now you need a kickass military helmet :)

Very neat to see! Looks like it has a new BMY motor, not a design from 60 years ago. So, basicly every moving part is something newly designed. Just kept the frame, fenders, seats, and side car design. Thats my guess.

A:

Naw the Poles are alright. Now the French on the other hand...
Refinements: It's got a Brembro disc up front, Electronic ignition, and a 12V Nippon Denso alternator. The engine is all Russian but based on the BMW Boxer.
It'll definitely be getting trail use. Lots. Unfortunately because of the 2WD the sidecar isn't meant to be detached. But that's fine by me.

i actually looked at one of those last year, not the camo version though, a black one. you definitly cant beat the price of $5600 with a side car. you ridden it with the car off? heard you can actually get it up to about 80. Also BMW pipes will fit on that bike i believe.

The problem with such a bike, in my experience, is service. Being that its foreign, if you break something, or need a new part, it can be very difficult. Having a honda or something you can just go to a local dealership and order parts (honda, HD, kawasaki, suziki, whatever) but something as unknown as Ural (or in my case, Zong-Q) can be a pain in the ass if something breaks.

Not so. The dealer network throughout the US with these are becoming more established, and the folks in Redmond, WA at IMZ's headquarters are fine folks to deal with for parts.
There is a requirement to owning these bikes though. You MUST be mechanically inclined. This isn't a Jap bike. However, the bike is simple enough that you could pretty much take it down to basket case status in one day. I intend to do all service right at home. No travelling down to the Harley-Mart to get my valves done!
