Just thought I'd pass on a few cool apps I found. (one is used for opening PDF's in Z tech tips faster so it is zcar related)
All these are free:
Foxit
(This is an alternate to Acrobat and is a gazillion times faster and smaller <1Mb). Simply download and place anywhere on your system then run once to have the system know where it is.

OpenOffice is nice, just a little harder to use the normal M$ Office.
I live with the slowness of Acrobat... since I need to be able to edit them.
Avast is nice, but too intrusive for me. I like AVG Antivirus Free Edition. Lot's of updates and not a resource hog.

Just for everyone's information, OpenOffice is not 100% compatible with Microsoft Office. There are isses with formatting in Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access. These issues are minor and can be corrected once a document has been converted with very little effort, but by no means is it 100% compatible.

I have been using Avast for about a year now... Awesome program and it updates daily. I just use it for a secondary incase something gets through my firewall.

That has to be the slowest booting piece of searchware ever found. My wife put that on my old Laptop, and it takes FOREVER to boot up.
I mean, run it when you're online, but not every freaking time you start up the laptop. Damn!
She says it has caught stuff, but damn, don't keep important stuff on your computer without a backup, and virus screening becomes almost irrelevant.
