Haha. Funny thing is that the needle was already below E and he put well over 4 gallons into it, then drove at least a mile. I'm sure it's in the system by now. All I know is that it got taken away on a flatbed.

I am going to guess that the engine is still ok.
Drain the fuel tank or tanks, Bleed the system, replace the filter, maybe replace the glow plugs if it's an older diesel truck.
I have worked on cars that people have put diesel fuel in. Similar operation. Plugs, Drain fuel tank, Fuel filter, and run it.

Drain the tank like everyone said, one of my Dads employess did the same to a truck of ours, ended up fine.

It may have damaged the pumps and injectors. At a minimum the filters will have to be changed and everything flushed out. The boss won't laugh when he gets the bill.

diesel on gas is bad gas on diesel on a modern engine will just run like crap if is most gas, a tank drain n prime will solve, a helper did it on a NPR Isuzu n thats was all it took

a couple years ago my wife filled up our 96 explorer that was on empty with diesel she had left it running at the pump as it was winter and as she was topping it off the engine died. she called me at home and i called a tow truck and had it brought home. after syphoning all the diesel( 24 gallons) out and putting gas in and cranking for a few minutes it started- it blew smoke and smelled bad for 10 minutes but after thatwas fine.
moral to the story is dont let stupid emploees or your wife put the gas in !!lol!!!

The amount of problems it causes is directly related to how much you run it. My sister had an old Diesel Rabbit and her friend filled it up with gas and drove it a long ways and it completely fried the engine, but a guy I worked with filled up our Chevy 3500 with gas and it only had to be flushed out and it was fine. My sisters friend drove it, it over heated, waited for it to cool down, drove it again...over heated...you get the idea...
