How about the burnout's?

A:

I can't keep my negative opinion to myself: what a betrayal of the soul of a Z car. 50:50 weight balance, light weight, sweet handling/steering and you're dragging. Blah.
To each his own. Z on brothers and sisters.

A:

Yeah...the stuff about the "soul of the Z" is true but it is pretty neat to see two classic Z's go head to head on the strip.
Burnouts look mean too.
I like Alex's point of view but I am impartial on this one. I think the vid is SWEET!

A:

Do either of you guys have a line lock for the burnout or were you just heavy on the brakes? And if you have a line lock was it a kit (ive never seen a kit ofr a Z) or you had to build it from scratch?

A:

no line lock for me. the burouts are pretty easy to do. What i would need a line lock for would be the lauch, as you can see in the video my car never stopped rolling after i staged. that was planned this time but i have been at other tracks where i have to use the e brake to keep my car from creaping through the lights. yeah it was a very fun night and i cant wait until we can do it again.

A:

if im not mistaken the zx that is owned bye spork has a line lock on it! you might wanna ask him about it.

A:

Yeah that is the classic Nismo Header sound. I liked the way my Motorsport header sounded better than my current Nismo header.
The Nismo just has a chain saw sound that can't be gotten rid of unless you use a quieter muffler which I believe I will be getting myself before much longer although since I run open header at the track the announcer can still make fun of me as well. haha
good launches by the way

The L6 sounds MUCH MUCH better in person! Not any less "chain saw", but a lot less flat and droney. L6's NEVER come through sounding right on video!

A:

I agree dan. Bryans car sounds sweet as hell in person. My car is just loud!

Just buy a line lock and the install kit Hurst has one its just universal. Also good times and both of those launches looked good. Oh but there is one thing ive learned over the years "if you chase its a race".
Currently parting out 1990 300zx TT.

A:

how did 280dragger launch so good? how did he do tha? explain what he did, pop the clutch at 3500? :0

A:

3500.. man if i launched at 3500 it would bog something serious. if you listen closely my rpms get higher and higher before the launch, had to be close to 5200 to 5500 rpm. i knew i had to bring the heat to hang with brian.

Oh BTW, I drag and autocross my car. I drove 400 miles, drag raced, then two days later I went to a all day autocross race. So my car is a ALL around car, not just a drag car. Yea I use a line loc, no kit, and its easy to install.

lol...some people don't read real thorough do they....
These were 1/8 mile times....Good runs tho!
As for the line lock, a little of topic, but they are easy to install. I used the one from TCI. I just went to napa and got some metric to standard adapters and a 12" piece of thier brake line and it was an easy install.

O.K., Here's a Proposition for next year:
Irwindale is nice, but CROWDED!
If they do a Lame-O Casino night next year as well, why not make it a FRIDAY night Drag Night (either alone, or "as well") where you guys run the 1/8 mile at the PAS (Moreno Valley)
There are usually only 100 cars, and a maximum speed of 7.00 Sec, which I think is safe for the current crowd, I don't see anyone taking a full second off their times thie coming year.
Same price (just went from 10 bucks race or watch) as Irwindale, and will give McAdam and Bryan another day to sort McAdams' latest fiasco, and if anyone breaks they can shelter safe at my place, which is 5.3 miles from the starting line, down the track, along the return road, and to my driveway gate! Towing distance for sure...

Nice!!!!
Ya I'd be up for a Friday night Drag in Moreno next year for sure
But hey One Fast... You cannot truly say you can autoX until you can at least beat
!!!BRIDE OF SHARKY!!!!
That’s right the BONE STOCK 260 "Bride of Sharky" on street tires is brought out of retirement (since last year) and driven by some foreigner that has never been autoXing before, only to SPANK all but the fully autoX prepped Zs at the driving school....
Brian, You definitely know a good bit about engines and straight line stuff, but suspension and BRAKES are the key on the curves, I look forward to seeing how you improve by next year…..
